Hey folks, still teaching myself lapidary. I’m getting some opals cleaned up. I will have rough, rubs and polished gems soon!

This is my favorite material, McDermitt Purple Cow. It’s a Bogwood, like petrified wood but swampland. Probably 13 million years in the making, the material is jasper agate, and opal!!

Good news! I converted a pottery wheel into a flat lap polishing unit and it works! Thanks for the tips on the carpet wheel and cerium oxide! More shiny stones!
