Well… today got productive REAL fast. 😂

It’s not even the end of the day yet and somehow I’ve already:

🍂 Made AND put out some new fall/spooky season earrings — and yes, because apparently regular earrings aren’t enough around here, some of them GLOW IN THE DARK. 👻✨

🎨 Made plaster paint kits!
Were these what I originally had planned for those plaster pieces? Nope. 😂 But while I’m working on the rest of that idea (hopefully ready next week 👀), I decided they were way too cute not to do something with.

☕ Made some new coffee mugs — and I feel like “I’m not crazy, I’m mentally spicy” may explain a few things around here. 😂

And apparently today’s magic number is 8, because EVERYTHING I made and put out today is $8 EACH! 🙌

Earrings? $8.
Paint kits? $8.
Mugs? $8.

Did I plan that? Absolutely not.
Are we going with it? Absolutely. 😂

And the day isn’t over yet… which is probably dangerous.

Today’s forecast at Rabuns Rustic Creations: 100% chance of CHAOS. 😂

I have a plan for today.

Is it a good plan? Probably.

Will I actually follow it? Probably not. 😂

Mike was in the shop yesterday and apparently decided there were entirely too many empty molds around here… so I already have resin pieces waiting on me when I get there. 👀

Meanwhile, BettyJo Art is bringing in MORE PUMPKINS to refill the pumpkin patch because y’all have been picking that thing like fall depends on it. 🎃😂

Other artists have been sneaking new goodies into the shop all week…

I need to keep experimenting with those plaster pieces…

I want to pour more resin…

There are things to unmold…

And I am approximately one new idea away from completely abandoning whatever plan I started with.

So, you know…

🎸 They KNEW it was here. They just had to find it. 😂

Yesterday, Rabuns Rustic Creations got to be part of something that makes me love our little downtown community so much — the 12 String Hunt!

Visit Thomson, GA has been hiding those tiny guitars around town, dropping clues and sending everybody on a hunt to figure out where they’re hiding.

And yesterday… one of them was hiding with us. 👀🎸

Now, obviously, I couldn’t tell y’all that. I had a secret to keep. 😂

But then Heather and Bella showed up.

They had read the clue, and they were convinced it led them to Rabuns Rustic Creations.

They searched.

They left.

They came back.

They left.

They came back again. 🤣😂

Because apparently they weren’t about to let one tiny guitar outsmart them.

And honestly, watching them search while knowing EXACTLY where that little thing was hiding and not being able to say a word was probably just as much fun for me as the hunt was for them. 😂

Then, around 3 yesterday afternoon…

🎉 THEY FOUND IT! 🎉

And this right here is why I love being part of Downtown Thomson.

Yes, we’re a little handmade shop. But days like yesterday remind me that being downtown is about so much more than what’s sitting on our shelves.

It’s the events.

It’s the other small businesses.

It’s the people walking through the doors.

It’s watching two determined guitar hunters come back because “Nope. We KNOW it’s in there somewhere.” 😂

It’s getting to be a tiny part of something that brings people into our downtown, gets them exploring places they may not have visited before, and gives all of us something fun to talk about.

That’s community. ❤️

Congratulations, Heather& Bella! 🎸 You earned that little guitar after refusing to give up on it. 😂

And thank you, Visit Thomson GA, for letting Rabuns Rustic Creations be a little part of the fun this year.

Apparently “working time” is more of a threat than a measurement when you’re working with plaster. 😂

Y’all remember that plaster that showed up the other day?

Well… I played with it. 👀

I had every intention of taking pictures while I mixed and poured it so y’all could follow along with the experiment.

That was cute. 😂

Turns out plaster has a VERY different definition of working time than resin. There was no stopping for pictures. There was barely time for THINKING. It was basically mix, pour, GO GO GO. 😂

But somehow… we got here. 😍

And yes, before anybody asks—I absolutely started looking around at all my molds thinking, “I wonder what plaster would do in THAT one…”

So we have butterflies, frogs (because obviously 🐸), coasters, memorial pieces and a whole assortment of other experiments drying on the table.

And I have to say… I’m impressed.

The detail these picked up surprised me, especially that tiny lettering!

But plain white isn’t the final plan. 👀

This was only experiment #1.

Now I get to figure out what happens when I start doing things my way. 😂

Yep. You read that right. 😂

I’ve got an idea floating around in my head, and today we’re going to find out whether it works as well in real life as it does in there. 👀

And before y’all start studying everything on that work table trying to figure it out…

This has NOTHING to do with resin.

So…what in the world do y’all think I’m making now? 😂

That’s your only hint. I’m not telling you anything else.

If it works, I’ll show y’all what I came up with.
