We have a little surprise we’ve been keeping…baby number four! Which is crazy because my first baby is now 18…how does that even happen, time is a thief! Yes it was a bit of a surprise, but we feel so very blessed! Morning or should I say all day sickness has been a bit rough but it seems like things are getting a bit better day by day and I’ve been able to spend more time dipping away, making candles and processing orders as things pick up. Thanks for your support as we gear up for this beautiful Holiday season!

I’ve hosted quite a few things Thanksgiving’s over the years, but this year I’m only hosting Christmas. I thought I would share some of my past Thanksgiving tables with you, some of them I’ve never shared on here before mainly because the photos aren’t great and I couldn’t get very nice lighting or we were in the middle of remodeling a space so everything kinda looks less than perfect but I thought hey why not share them here anyway. Sadly, I’m missing a few years that I must’ve gotten too busy to take the picture before we all sat down, but I have quite a few to share:)

I love hosting, but I can’t decide what I love decorating for more, a Christmas table or a Thanksgiving table. Both are fun. I was looking back over the years at some of the simple tables I’ve done. Everything’s always simple, mainly with mismatched pretty dishes, pumpkins of some sort, and something else from nature like hydrangeas, walnuts, apples, twigs and such. I try to spend next to nothing on the tablescape. I might buy a couple pumpkins that I end up roasting and making into pies later or maybe an inexpensive bundle of flowers but for the most part, I keep it at a very low cost. When it comes to linens, I have collected so many over the years and the best place to find them is at estate sales. Those older ladies would immaculately stain treat all of their linens, starch and press them and you can get the most beautiful bundles of cloth napkins for next to nothing. I slowly but surely have added various silver plated silverware that I’ve picked up at yard sales and such and now I have quite a bit of extra that I pull out for the holidays. I just use stuff that I have and things from outside. I actually prefer to do a no spend holiday table. It gets really fun to try to be creative. But also sometimes I’ve been very busy and not done extravagant tablescapes it sort of depends on how much time I have and what I’m feeling up to. But even the most simple with just a few pumpkins always looks beautiful. What is your favorite thing to decorate with on your Thanksgiving table?

Yes, beeswax burns longer, cleaner and brighter than any other wax, but sometimes our pillar candles are known for getting extremely large flames. Just trim that wick down to 1/4" of an inch and you'll have a nice small flame with a perfect burn. Sometimes when you've been burning a candle for a long time, you might notice a tiny bit of smoking. This is from the honey that's naturally in the wax and carbon buildup, so trim that wick down and it will clean the flame right back up. # beeswaxcandles

The tulips are very slowly thinking about opening, which will add some nice color. I put all these bulbs in last fall and I am so happy I did. They look so cheery right here! However as cheery as this little spot looks the rest of the yard is torn up as we have decided to put a sprinkler system in…so I don’t have to drag hoses around all over the place. Which I obviously do not do a very good job because we have huge dead spots all over😂 So here’s to hopefully getting the yard going but for now at least this little spot looks cute. 🌷

Today is such a weird day. It’s sunny outside, but still too cold to not have a fire going. I’m busy getting things packed up for , which is just around the corner and artwork is always my favorite thing to bring. I picked up this beautiful watercolor and I made the mistake of bringing it inside thinking it’d be the perfect thing to cheer up my space. So like all things I have to decide whether I’m keeping or selling. I learned a little bit about this artist Emily Sartain today, which is making it harder now for me to bring this piece, but we’ll see. Regardless, I have a giant stack of other watercolors, oil paintings, and other vintage prints I’ll be bringing.

Before we continue on the pantry, I’ve had to make some decisions about what we’re going to do in the kitchen because that will certainly change the pantry…like where the fridge is going. So for now I’m planning things out and we’ve moved into the dining room and I’ve been slowly but surely painting in here one or two windows here and there and eventually the room will get painted entirely. Like any project once you get partway through, you start second-guessing yourself, but I’ve kept going and I really like how things are turning out. It’s easy to put things off because no one has time to do huge projects, but just making yourself do one thing a day really helps and eventually things get done. Also, while I don’t normally paint wood. There are a lot of issues in this room, especially since we added a wall with tongue and groove. Most of the house will stay the stained trim, but this room and the kitchen will have their trim painted and I already love how it’s lightning everything up. I’m still deciding if the ceiling is going to be painted the same as the wall and trim or if I’m going to leave it white. I think it would look really great left lighter with crown molding, but that will probably have to come later.
