Een individu of een groep toont creativiteit wanneer een nieuw concept of object wordt gemaakt, of wanneer een originele oplossing voor een probleem wordt gevonden. Ik heb altijd een voorlie

fde gehad om “standaard” spullen voor het huis mijn eigen “draai” te geven en ze met simpele materialen totaal anders te laten uitzien. Iets “anders” laten uitzien hoeft niet perse duur te zijn! Je kunt makkelijk met spullen die je reeds hebt, iets aparts maken. Je kunt er net zoveel gevoel in zetten en eindeloos varieren. Met simpele dingen kun je een ruimte al heel anders laten uitzien. Het gaat er niet om hoe duur iets is/kost , geef er een persoonlijk tintje aan en dat zegt al zoveel meer. Mijn gevoel gaat vooral uit naar de omgeving waar je je het prettigst voelt: thuis. Ik hou ervan om alles in en om het huis – dus ook de tuin- sfeervol en gezellig te maken. Het is de plek waar je je terug kan trekken en tot rust komt na je dagelijkse taken buitenshuis. Waarom is het “anders”? Ik maak gebruik van simpele materialen om huis - en tuin decoraties te maken. Mijn creativiteit laat ik erop los en maak zoveel mogelijk dingen op de hand. Deze combinatie maakt de decoratie uniek en uit het hart. Ik werk met toewijding en liefde aan elk stuk om de centrale plek in ons leven – ons huis – warm en gezellig te maken. Fleur je woon- of slaapkamer, bad/toilet, keuken, terras of tuin op met leuke deco spulletjes . Of wil je iemand blij maken met een leuk en origineel kado? De leuke deco spulletjes van It’s Different! maken een ieder blij. Dare to be unique, dare to be YOU…

This one represented more than an event.
It represented home. 🇸🇷
I was asked to design the backdrop for the Pre-Sranan Dey Party in New York, celebrating 50 years of Sranan Dey.

Using the colors of the Surinamese flag, I created a layered draping design with the yellow star placed at the center, the symbol that brought the entire design together.

When I design a backdrop, I’m not just choosing pretty colors and hanging fabric.
I consider what the event represents, how the design fits the room, and how every layer, curve, floral arrangement, and light will work together in the final look.

After 15 years in event design, that part comes naturally but it still requires patience, precision, and plenty of stepping back to check my work.

Being able to represent my country and my culture through the work I’ve built here in the United States made this setup especially meaningful.

The celebration was supposed to happen outside,but when the plans changed, the standard didn’t.

I brought the entire table design inside, worked with the space I had, and pulled every detail together so it felt intentional, not like a backup plan.

Hearing this guest’s reaction when she walked in…
That was the confirmation. She absolutely did not know what had changed behind the scenes. She only saw the finished experience… and was blown away by it.

That’s part of hiring an experienced event designer. When something shifts, I don’t lose the vision.
I adjust, solve the problem, and keep the design moving forward.

The location changed…The experience didn’t !

This setup was originally booked as a balloon garland, but the design evolved into something even more elevated: soft, elegant backdrop draping that completely transformed the space.

Instead of simply delivering what was requested, I took the time to create a custom mock-up and presented an alternative concept featuring a draped backdrop design.The moment she saw the mock-up, everything clicked.
Not only did she choose the draping backdrop, but she also loved the design so much that she requested the exact colors and overall look from the concept I presented.

As event professionals, our job isn’t just to take orders. It’s to help clients see possibilities they may not have considered.
