Thor, the Thunderer, cleaves the heavens asunder with his mighty hammer, and the storm itself quails before his wrath. His laughter shakes the mountains, his fury splits the seas, and in his wake the bravest warriors bow their heads in awe.
Wander but a few steps past the Globe Theatre and behold the Norse Gods in all of their glory at Oak Ash & Thorn, the Great Grey Castle of shoppe 18. This weekend, we are ready for the Barbarian invasion at the Texas Renaissance Festival! Come and see our wares, mention this post, and let the Gods smile upon you!

A hearty hail and deepest thanks to all ye gallant Heroes and mischievous Villains who crossed the threshold of the Great Gray Castle this past weekend, filling our hall with mirth and valor alike! The All-Father Odin watched with wisdom from his high seat, while fair Fr**ga wove fates unseen, and mighty Thor’s hammer guarded the worthy as cunning Loki whispered tricks to test both heart and honor. Even Hel , keeper of the shadowed realm, did smile upon those bold enough to tread the line between glory and doom. Now we set our hands to prepare for the Barbarian Invasion at Oak Ash and Thorn , Booth 18 at the Texas Renaissance Festival—where the spirit of the North yet thrives and every soul may find a saga of their own!

Hear ye, good folk and gentle travelers! Gather close and lend thine ear to the grand tale of King Arthur — noble sovereign of shining steel — and Merlin, that cunning conjurer whose craft walks the line betwixt hero and villain alike.

Now, if thy purse be jingly and thy heart yearns for marvels, travel to Booth 18, Oak Ash and Thorn, within the great gray castle just past the Globe Theatre! Fine wares, rare charms, and curious wonders await all who pass beneath our banner this very weekend — step lively, for fortune favors the bold!

Ah, behold The Lady Godiva Tapestry , a vision woven in splendour, capturing the noble lady’s fabled ride through Coventry — her courage and grace immortalised in silken thread. Each stitch tells a tale of virtue, defiance, and timeless beauty, fit for the chambers of kings and queens alike. This lustrous story is but a single thread in the grand weave of fair and wondrous tapestries within our hall of craft.

Come, good folk and gentle travellers, and see this marvel for thyselves at Booth 18, Oak Ash and Thorn, the grand castle just past the Odeon Stage near the front entrance of the Texas Renaissance Festival! Step within, and be transported to a realm of art, craft, and wonder where every piece whispers of magic and majesty!

Freya, the Norse goddess of love, beauty, and war, rides her chariot drawn by cats with a fierce grace befitting a queen of Asgard. Clad in falcon feathers and crowned with Brísingamen, she moves between realms with wisdom and fire.

Visit the majestic statue of Freya, where her presence is etched in stone beside a shop teeming with Viking treasures and relics. Just beyond, lose yourself in a stunning library—a sanctuary of Norse sagas and ancient lore waiting to be discovered.
