Although my little crafty heart has MANY interests and loves learning and doing ALLLLL the things.... you all have often heard me say that sewing was my first true love. ❤️
I got my first sewing machine for Christmas when I was 10, my little mini Singer and I was positively giddy!!! Our neighbor, Polly, would come to our house and give me sewing lessons and I couldn't get enough! My Barbie dolls had the cutest little sleeping bags, pillows and "beadspreads" that I draped over shoe boxes to create the most magnificent Barbie beds I'd ever seen... I made curtains for our little shed out behind the house and turned it into my playhouse. I made placemats for my table (a board on a bucket 🤣) and basically anything else I could think of. I even remember a skirt for my little sister made from a wild, paisley patterned dress that my mom let me cut up. 🤣 I'm sure the quality of all my little projects was every bit that of a 10 year old, but I thought they were FABULOUS!! I was so proud of all my little projects!
A few years later I got my first grown up machine, another Christmas present, a very nice used machine and cabinet that my parents purchased from my Aunt. Again... I was in Heaven! And.... I STILL have, and use, that sewing cabinet!
My passions were further ignited with Jr High Home Ec., and the BEST teacher!! I was blessed to have her all through High School and spent as much time in that room as they'd allow. I sewed lots of clothes throughout high school, including a pair of jeans made from sparkly denim and a wrap around skirt with a gathered ruffle that seemed to be 2 miles long! I didn't think I ever, ever wanted to see another ruffle!
Kids brought more sewing fun with Halloween costumes, clothes for my daughter (when she was little) and allll kinds of fun, crafty things... but then... life got busier with work outside the home, kids in sports, business ownership, and not enough days in the week to support all my interests... I still sewed "some" but then I got my laser and, well, sewing just kinda got put on the shelf. Until a year or so ago and I started getting that itch again....and it's been getting itchier and itchier....
I was starting to really struggle with more wood kit ideas and, as you know, have really been struggling over the last year with my creativity..
Soooo... I did a little "thing" to really scratch that itch!! I am beyond excited... AGAIN!!!
Here's to another new and exciting adventure!!! The ideas are spinning! ❤️❤️ I hope to be sharing fun stuff again, soon!!! ❤️❤️
