today i want to take you inside one of my favorite listings on the market in LA for $6M - the kallis house by none other than rudolph schindler. this dwelling, wow (listed by & shot by my faves & alexis adam). a midcentury masterpiece of epic proportions. schindler is of the greats, defining the genre through his keenly organic modernist designs. this one, c. 1946, might just be one of his best. there’s such a sumptuous mix of materials here. from the abundant use of natural stone (rock fireplace/brick fireplace/hello!) to copious amounts of wood…it’s too good. and schindler’s residences always have a kind of mind-bending geometry to them, twisting and turning their volumes in ways that are entirely unexpected but downright marvelous. truly living, breathing works of art. reach out to me for more information on this one & let me know your fave moment down below!

thinking about this wooden cabin in topanga today:). an earthen structure, perched on the side of a cliff. i don’t even remember how i came across this one, because it’s not even on the market - must have been a pinterest deep dive or the ever-infinite scroll. but there’s such magic here. and i wanted to share this today because it’s reminding me a bit of my upcoming topanga listing, launching this week (!). the kind of old wooden house with stories to tell…a wood-burning fireplace, loosely scattered skylights, floors marked with the patina of decades. it’s dwellings like these that evoke the kind of delicious, indulgent simplicity i’m always yearning for. barefoot in the canyons, stevie on the stereo; a house that is so alive it practically breathes. inhaling and exhaling, shifting through seasons and tides and moons. and i just want to sit with this house in particular, and imagine that good juju for a minute. i hope you do too. in the meantime…subscribe to my cool houses newsletter (link in bio!) to be the first to see my new topanga listing & let me know your fave detail here down below.
