The white cabinets in this kitchen were much too stark for the creamy, rusty granite countertops, and the blue didn't work at all.

While I don't often work with brown, bringing rich brown tones into this kitchen make for a more harmonious, luxurious feel.

I loved seeing and hearing the details of these sets that you would never notice while watching the show, as well as the reasonings for why certain sets were designed certain ways!

Having grown up around set design, these considerations of "how do we create the right feel for the space?" and "how do we convey the owner's personality?" are second nature for how I approach any home design project.

The first design job I ever got was for a houseboat. It was owned by two friends, true crime aficionados who were inspired by Old Hollywood style and the "Natalie Wood boat." I was able to give them an updated version of classic yacht style that they loved.⁠

It was such a fun project because of the constraints posed by such a small space - I *loved* coming up with solutions for their wants (while making sure they would all fit through the very small front door!).⁠

How to provide sleeping space for as many people as possible, while still leaving room for those people to circulate while socializing? How to have luxe upholstered pieces while resisting mildew? (solution: outdoor-rated velvet!! It's amazing what exists these days!) How could they maximize fridge space while still being able to see out the kitchen window? Where do the dog bowls go? And how to do it all on a budget??⁠

There's truly nothing more rewarding than seeing clients' faces light up as they say, "I would never have thought of that and I love it!"

Kind of excited about , a new sustainable-furnishings company that just launched from Williams-Sonoma.⁠

I don't have any experience with them yet, but everything seems to be made with real solid wood (not "solid wood" that turns out to be MDF and veneer), and the pieces look pretty cool, so that's something.⁠

Tomorrow is in Topeka, which means Downtown and NOTO will come alive with fun ways to interact with local businesses.

A delicious and refreshing stop will be the debut of new mocktail (alcohol-free cocktail) menu from 4-8 p.m.

I got to have a sneak peek/taste of the menu a couple weeks ago and it is definitely worth checking out!

It's been such a busy few months that I forgot to share that I was published in last month.⁠
