Here’s what’s actually trending right now—
and honestly… most new builds still aren’t doing it! 🫣
Design is shifting in a big way. Homes are starting to feel more personal again, instead of copy + paste (hence why farmhouse is OUT).
We’re seeing:
• patterned tile using ordinary tile in unexpected layouts
• tile that actually feels like art - bold, historic and anything but basic
• fully color-drenched rooms - cozy, dramatic, full immersion
• wallpaper everywhere… yes even the ceiling, nothing is off limits
• softer, curved furniture and organic materials - bringing movement and femininity back into spaces
• arches coming back in the best way - small details that instantly elevate
• rich, moody colors - stop playing it safe
• vintage pieces - bringing soul back, collected instead of new
• unique lighting - intentional statement pieces that tie everything together
But here’s the part people don’t realize: this doesn’t just magically come together. You can pin all the pins on Pinterest and show all the things to your builder, but I promise that he won't be able to translate everything like a designer can. I can also promise that you will regret thinking you could DIY it all...
Designers plan these things early. YEARS and YEARS early. The old saying goes: Fast + cheap won’t be good. Good + cheap won’t be fast. Fast + good won’t be cheap.
If you’re building or remodeling in 2026, 2027, 2028, here's your sign to start planning NOW.
