I’m currently caught up on orders so i have some free time to make some things I’ve been thinking about. 🤔💭

I’ve had an idea for a while wanted to make a carving that represents the significant family loved ones that I’ve lost in my lifetime.

This carving is dedicated to my Mom and Dad. My brother Kevin and our son (Zaggy) Liam, who have all left this world to soon.

I added the little mushroom man to lighten up the mood and he’s fun. 😊

I had such a great time making this guy for a friend who recently retired from a long distinguished career in the U.S. Coast Guard.

There is a wonderful childhood backstory involving a his wife, her grandmother, and a stuffed crow that he wanted incorporated into the theme of the carving.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to come up with this concept and run with it.

This carving is 2’.5” x 20” made from a piece of Poplar.

Hi everyone. I haven’t been able to make any progress with carvings the last couple of weeks. Seems I took a fall and cracked a couple of ribs so I’ve been out of commission. 😖
Laurie says it’s my fault that she has to push me down when I misbehave. She said if I listen better it won’t happen again.😜

Anywho, I’m on the mend and feeling good enough to put the finishing touches on this pair of Octopi.

I started working on them back in October, they were shelved for Christmas orders.

Octopi, I love carving them. I won’t bother you with the details but if you’re interested read up on them. They are absolutely fascinating creatures. They are completely alien to earth.
This piece is 32” tall and 20” wide. Carved in poplar.

A little poem i wrote in 2021.
Enjoy! 😊

Twas the night before Christmas..
The sawdust was flying…
The carvings arent done....
but man I’am trying…

Sawdust in my noses….
Wood chips in my eyes….
I make another sculpture..
Each unique..each a different size…

The poly is tacky…
the paint just won’t dry…
Just one more carving to do...
My deadlines have arrived …

Then all of a sudden...
in the door of my shack…
Stands this big guy with eyes locked on my back…

A jolly ole soul, but he looked serious as heck…
He asks for my assistance...I need you real quick…

Seems I’ve hit something young man…
A treetop, a branch...I’m not sure what to do….There’s no time to chance…

So I fixed his old sleigh, patched it up just like new…
Then I gave all nine of his reindeer some food…

He took back to the skies, through the heavens he flew…He thanked me and disappeared yelling “I’ll See you real soon!”

And just like that I was all alone…
So Back to my work I quickly returned…

Now Christmas morning I woke up…
a runny nose and itchy eyes…
I walk downstairs and discover a big surprise…

I entered the living room and what do I see…
Three new Echo chainsaws under my tree!

With a big smile on my face I knew right there and right then…
I knew the ole’man came back to thank me again…

Merry Christmas to the Sculptor..
Each and every one.
Now its back to the saw shack...
for there’s more to be done.
