Yesterday August 12th marked FIVE years since the shoppe opened in its present downtown Tracy City location here on Railroad Avenue.
And in those years, countless memories have been made.
In a way, it has become a kind of gathering place.
For family, friends, travelers, and those just passing through.
Relationships that mean so much to me have started right here in this little place.
I’ve had good days.
I’ve had great days.
There have been days filled with joy and laughter.
Days when just being here has felt like enough for me.
And at the same time…
I’ve had rough days.
I’ve had absolutely horrible days.
Days when I’ve wanted to cry.
And plenty when I have.
On a few days, I’ve wanted to punch someone.
People who I thought would support me, haven’t.
But those I never believed would, have done so.
People I know have been less than supportive.
Yet total strangers have encouraged me.
I’ve been disrespected.
And at times, I have felt very unappreciated.
But thankfully, there have also been days when it’s quite the opposite and someone has thanked me, just for being here.
Many times I’ve wanted to just give it all up.
Then a day comes along when I feel like everything just might be okay.
And that I am here for a reason.
I could go on, but I’ll save you from that.
Even with all that I’ve learned about small business, I’ve learned so much more about myself and the life I want to have.
Through it all, I really do love what I do and that’s something I hope people will always see.
But most importantly, I love this PLACE.
My home.
I wake up every day with new plans, new ideas, and new dreams.
And each time I walk through the door here at the shoppe, I’m reminded that those things DO come true.
Whether you’ve been here from the beginning, visited the little house on Altamont Street, are a newer friend, or even a fan from afar, “THANK YOU” for being here and for helping to make my Olde House dreams a reality.
I truly believe we’re just getting started and that there’s so much more to come.
And yes, a selfie for this post.
Because behind it all is a REAL PERSON.
And that’s the only thing I try to be every day.
