It’s the last day of the 5th annual Northern Michigan Fiber Festival festival in Alpena, MI. I couldn’t go home without supporting at least one other maker 🫶. Cheers to something new “spinning” 🧶 in my head… this gorgeous variegated yarn from Reaction Yarn out of Traverse City, MI is going to be the focal point for some new bracelets I’m envisioning. Stayed tuned!! 🪎📿🪛✂️🫟

Bright stripes, cozy turtleneck, and exactly the kind of look he pretends he chose himself. (His favorite colorway is always whatever he’s wearing. We just announce it. He is a stuffed animal. The board has spoken.)

We are all set up and excited for the Northern Michigan Fiber Festival this weekend. So many great vendors and freinds getting pumped up for the show. We will be here from 9am until 5 tomorrow and 10 to 4 on Sunday. Stop by and say Hi and buy some gorgeous yarn while you are here. Many great raffle items are avaliable to win as well!

We’re excited to share that we’ve once again been invited to bring Reaction Yarn to Stranded Yarn & Coffee for two fantastic fiber events: the Middle of the Mitten Yarn Crawl and the Heartland Yarn Adventure! 🧶✨

This has become an annual tradition for us, and we’re thrilled that yarn lovers will once again be able to shop our hand-dyed yarn at one of our favorite local yarn shops.

If you haven’t visited Stranded Yarn & Coffee since their move, now is the perfect time. They may be in a new location, but it’s still everything you’ve come to love about their shop—warm, welcoming, and filled with beautiful fiber inspiration.

Our yarn will remain available for shopping there through August, giving you plenty of time to stop in and browse. And while you're there, be sure to check out the amazing yarns, including hand-dyed yarns and fiber creations from other talented dyers as well!

We have officially wrapped up the inaugural Fresh Coast Fiber Festival, and honestly, we could not be happier with how incredible the weekend turned out! 🧶✨

As a local business, having a fiber festival right here in Traverse City made this event especially meaningful to us. One of the greatest joys was reconnecting with so many familiar faces from our Knitology days and feeling the genuine kindness, support, and sincerity from customers who meant so much to us over the years. Those moments created memories we will carry with us for a very long time.

This event could not have been such a success without the tireless dedication and vision of Jamie from M1 Fibers. Jamie worked incredibly hard to create an amazing experience not only for attendees, but also for every vendor who participated. The organization, atmosphere, and sense of community throughout the weekend were truly something special.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, supported local hand-dyed yarn, shared stories, laughed with us, and made this weekend unforgettable. We already miss seeing all of you, and we are so excited to do it all again next year at the next Fresh Coast Fiber Festival!

We’re officially heading out to set up Booth #19 for the Fresh Coast Fiber Festival! 🧶✨

We truly hope to see you there this weekend and cannot wait to share all of our new colorways, favorites, and surprises with everyone attending!

But if you can’t make it to the festival, we also have some very exciting news… 👀

Reaction Yarn has been invited to host a monthly pop-up shop at a major retailer starting next month! That means you’ll soon be able to shop our Traverse City-made hand-dyed yarn locally — without needing to attend a fiber festival.

Even better, our local customers will be able to place orders online and pick them up at the pop-up, helping avoid shipping costs altogether! 💜

We’ll be sharing all the details, including dates, times, and location information sometime next week — so stay tuned!

Sometimes there’s nothing better than a beautifully hand-dyed solid colorway. While commercial solids can often feel flat, Breakwater has incredible depth and richness that only hand dyeing can create.

Inspired by the coast and perfectly suited for the Fresh Coast Fiber Festival this weekend, this colorway captures those deep shoreline blues and calming lakefront vibes that feel right at home here in Traverse City.
