There are so many feel-good moments at The Flower Station. 🌸

A mother and daughter came in together. Mom usually surprises her with an arrangement, but this time she wanted her daughter to pick out her favorite flowers.

What happened next was magic. ✨

It was so much fun watching the two of them spend this time together, choosing flowers and sharing the experience. And we loved creating something beautiful using all of her favorites.

Wait… is kale a flower?

If you spotted the gorgeous purple-and-green “flower” in this arrangement and thought it looked a little like kale… you were right.

It’s ornamental kale, and while it isn’t technically a flower, floral designers love using it like one.

Those dramatic, ruffled leaves create a rose-like focal point while adding incredible color, texture, and dimension to a design. And unlike the kale you might toss into a salad, ornamental varieties are grown primarily for their looks.

That’s part of the art of floral design: not everything beautiful in an arrangement has to be a flower.

Sometimes the unexpected elements are what make a design unforgettable.

A little birdie told us you might need flowers. 💕🐦🌸

Great Lakes piping plovers have been endangered since 1986 — and nearly half of the population nests right here at Sleeping Bear Dunes.

That little shoreline bird inspired Dune Bird Winery in Northport to create Pink Plover, a limited-edition rosé made in partnership with Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, turning a bottle of local w**e into a way to help protect a local species.

For a recent w**e event, The Flower Station’s Angel Wolf carried that story one step further translating the Pink Plover into flowers. Inspired by the tiny bird that goes boop-boop along our beaches and the w**ery’s signature pink, she created an arrangement rooted in the same place and the same story.

A Michigan shoreline. A little bird. A bottle of w**e. And now, flowers.

All telling the story of something worth protecting. 🌸🐦🍷
