Most of the bears are heading in, but I’m coming out of hibernation! Its too cold in the garage so the dining room is my lil studio. Guess I’ve gotten soft.

H-dog, Meatball, Harvsmagarvs, HDeezydoozy, Cheese, The HWB, my Ham.

Harvey turned 7 earlier this month 💛. Every morning he gets up with a butt wiggle. As far as I know he’ll go with me wherever I go and by whatever mode and he’ll sleep for as long as I need. He eats carrots with the same gusto as pieces of steak. He loves the slow amble in the woods, hips swinging, constant sniffing. He loves jumping rocks and chasing skiis. He loves swimming. He doesn’t love long runs on pavement (and neither do I). He does love stuffed animals, which he brings on our slower city ambles.

We’re getting used to the city life together and H-dog made bffs with the awesome family across the street where he hangs out while I work (I swear he did this all by himself).

This year was filled with learning about lines and ropes - nursing and climbing. Climbing school, as I affectionately call the patient hours of coaching and encouragement given by wonderful friends, was the perfect compliment to nursing school.

What’s up with the egg, you ask? That’s a pocket egg - fuel in a student budget that comes so nicely packaged.

Here’s a gem for ya’ll. Ma and Pa H-grave. Wow. Their love for me knows no limits and I have lived with that confidence my whole life. It’s what gave me the grit to make my dad take an extra 4 hour drive to Yosemite. I had to tell him it was only a two hour drive and just know he’d still love me when we got there. He did.

In case you wondered, as I did, how I would make it through the gazillion small details of nursing school, here is the answer: my friend, my roommate, my classmate, the now RN…Michael Seacat. In no way is it an understatement to say that Michael pulled me under his broad and expansive Seattle wing, plopped me into the perfect home complete with friends-for-life roomies and podmates, taught me to climb up vertical walls, provided multiple real-time rescues when I was being called on in class, did a good portion of my busy work…I mean school work, and even fielded a v important message for me when I failed to answer my email in a timely fashion while out climbing with him. All the while, he was also attending the same accelerated program, climbing, skiing, making music, and generally getting after it. How he does it, I don’t know. All I can speak to are the immense gifts brought into my life by the friendship of this kind, funny, generous, STRONG, & humble man. I am so grateful !!

Side note: Chris of .szynal is pictured here. More to come on that guy, his wings, and his awesomeness later.

I'm taking a class with Casey Clark - very thought provoking, really making me think about making pots, what they are used for and how we and our food interact with them. We've been discussing simple pots that act as the frame for food. Here's a go.
