✨You’ll find Woolly Fern in this little pop-up shop space playing Enya, burning incense, and talking to people about death, humanity, and antiques.

This has been such an enjoyable day hitting the ground again to spread the word about my mission for Woolly Fern to become a community resource to assist with burial expenses for our local Tucson community.

It’s quite fascinating how much people want to talk about death once you create a safe space to do so.

Connecting locals with amazing and affordable secondhand items, antiques, and oddities while using the funds to help create death with more dignity just makes sense in my brain.

🤦‍♀️🫣I haven’t set up at someone else’s event in such a long time and always wondered why I was the last one to pack out.

As I’m watching the back lot at the shop begin to look like a nursery of faux trees this afternoon, I asked if it was a bit much. The resounding response was that it’s me. 😂

Luckily, this fun little installation pop-up shop at the brand new First Avenue Flea is here to stay and you’ll find us permanently in this location. Stick around and see how much it changes and develops each month as I can spend more time building it out.

✨I’m extremely appreciative of the Tucson Children’s Clinic and their all encompassing support they’ve provided to my family for the past 11 years.

My son was born 11 years ago with a rare bone disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta type 4. It’s an issue with a specific collagen gene that causes a myriad of entire systemic issues since our bodies are made of collagen. He’s been to so many major medical facilities from AZ to California and his health always came before mine.

Last week was the annual bone clinic that we attend where we get to see a parade of specialists through our room. It’s a pretty cool clinic that they offer to the OI families that is important to a very, very small percentage of people. OI is a pretty darn rare bone disease so of course, it makes complete sense that it happened to us 🤦‍♀️

This is the very first clinic we’ve attended with my being diagnosed as AuDHD and I’ve found myself telling professionals more and more… the instant look of understanding is pretty rad. Neuro spicy people do not get the best wrap sometimes 🥹 My kiddo was diagnosed by me when no other medical pro would believe me. It took almost 2 years of fighting and being told I’m insane to get him tested… and it came back exactly as I stated- OI type 4. A mama just knows and my observation and research are some of my superpowers with my 🧠.

I’ve been so focused on the health of my son that it took a doctor to remind me that I need to care for myself as well. Osteogenesis Imperfecta has no cure but doctors have made it easier to live with it. I explained that I struggle with executive function and despite trying, I’d probably never order the test, apply for financial assistance to cover the cost; but today it arrived. My son’s doctor truly listened to me and took care of the steps for me.

AuDHD is a bitch but I’m finding understanding and patience from the right people. 🖤
