Jeanie Emilie Bernbaum wanted to be remembered as someone whose existence made a difference to this world. Indeed she did. A woman whose presence brought peace and whose words brought kindness passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at 81. A Tulsa Native, Jeanie was a blessing born on December 21, 1935 to her beloved mother Gladys Marie Todd and caring father Arthur Daniel Schlecht. She leaves behind two beautiful daughters Debbie Minnie Firestone and Jennie Marie Bernbaum, as well as her four grandchildren Joshua Joseph Alan Firestone, Rachel Emilie Ann Firestone, Micah Jean Rene Firestone, and Hannah Jenai Ecclesia Firestone. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Bernbaum, her parents, and her bothers.

Jeanie was CEO of Oklahoma Lighting Distributors, Inc. An avid athlete, Jeanie graduated from Central High School class of 1953. After attending Tulsa Business School in 1956 she was offered a clerical position at Oklahoma Lighting Distributors when it was located at 110 South Main Street in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. She married the owner's son, Harry Bernbaum, and after his untimely death in 1979, she lead the business for over 30 years. She relocated its operations to its present location at 5134 South 110th East Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Always a leader, Jeanie was one of the first women to be inducted into a Rotary Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended the Rotary Club of Southeast Tulsa for over 28 years with perfect attendance, and she was a Paul Harris Fellow. Furthermore, she joined her beloved church, Asbury Methodist Church, 37 years ago, and was a long-time member of the New Beginnings Sunday School Class.

Jeanie loved the outdoors. She conquered her fears and learned to swim at age 40. She made many friends through skiing, tennis, bowling, and she loved soaking up the sun. She embodied honesty, kindness, hard-work, loyalty, determination, and possessed an enthusiasm for living. She especially had a wonderful sense of humor and always focused on the positive.

She believed in Jesus Christ and now resides in heaven with her Lord. -- "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8

Interment will be at Rose Hill Mausoleum on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with services following at Asbury Methodist Church, 6767 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, Oklahoma at 11:00 a.m. The family asks friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to join them in honoring Jeanie Bernbaum's memory through a memorial contribution to Asbury Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
