Our hearts are heavy tonight for everyone affected by the violence in Toledo’s Old West End.

To the victims, their families, neighbors, festival attendees, and all who experienced today’s fear and chaos, please know our community stands with you.

To the first responders who ran toward danger, cared for the injured, protected the public, and helped restore order, thank you.

Some of those first responders are part of our Salute to Carpentry family. We care deeply about them and are incredibly proud of their service.

Days like today remind us that service does not end when the uniform comes off, and it often carries a heavy burden. To every police officer, firefighter, paramedic, dispatcher, medical professional, and public safety partner who responded today, we see you. We are grateful for your dedication and are praying for your strength, safety, and peace in the days ahead.

Toledo is hurting tonight, but we are also reminded of the courage, compassion, and commitment shown by those who serve this community when it matters most.

Thank you to Ottawa Hill's Stroll Magazine for the awesome spotlight in their June edition. We still can't believe that our crazy little idea has somehow grown into a real, thriving business. We are so grateful for every interaction at the workshop, in the community or through social media. Every connection helps our roots grow stronger, our impact more profound and our future brighter.

Today was one of those days that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

We were honored to be part of Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Playhouse Blitz, building something special for three pretty amazing kiddos, Braxton, Ella and Sayge. Watching a playhouse come together is fun. Knowing it was built with love, purpose and a whole lot of heart makes it even better.

A huge thank you to our sponsor, Terry Bossert, for making this build possible, and to Pastor Dave, our MVHFH Team Lead, along with the entire Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity team, for creating such a meaningful day.

We are also so grateful for our Inspired Lumber crew who showed up, worked hard and represented the Workshop beautifully, including Salute to Carpentry Build Team members Wayne, Rena, Josh, Nick and Julie. And a special shoutout to our own kiddos, Mallory and Zak, who jumped in and helped round out the team.

And of course, thank you to Brian, whose steady leadership, patience and ability to bring people together made sure the day stayed focused, fun and full of purpose.

Days like today are never just about wood, paint or playhouses. They are about community. They are about showing up. And they are about what can happen when good people come together to build something bigger than themselves.

This Fourth of July season, we are honoring that spirit by building with purpose.

Our Built with Purpose Outdoor Furniture Pre-Sale supports the Salute to Carpentry program, which gives local veterans and first responders the chance to find renewed purpose, connection, confidence and community through woodworking.

These pieces are handcrafted by veteran and first responder alumni of the program, and every order helps open the door for the next person who needs a place to belong, a skill to build and a reason to keep moving forward.

Father’s Day is coming, and listen, we love the confidence.

We love the “I saw a video.”
We love the “how hard could it be?”
We even love the “hold my drink, I’ve got this” energy.

But we also really love all ten fingers.

This Father’s Day, give the guy in your life something better than another shirt. Give him tools, skills, confidence, and a safe place to learn how to actually use them.

Please join us for Built on Freedom: A backyard BBQ celebrating our Salute to Carpentry’s veterans and first responders as we kick off the excitement of America’s 250th birthday.

But “I saw a video” is not the same thing as knowing how to safely use a saw, planer, router, sander, or anything else with a blade, bit, cord, or motor.

There is something about the smell of a woodshop.

Fresh-cut wood. Sawdust. Tools. Workbenches. The quiet hum of people making something with their own two hands.
