I thought it would be fun to create a mood board that feels just a little bit Dolly! Her beauty, s***k and generous heart will never be forgotten. šŸ’•

The couch has curves, it’s pink and it has stiletto heels!! Definitely Dolly!

The chairs are a great warm country vibe with pillows that are named Tambourine! Total Dolly vibes 🄰

The artwork is a relaxing cowboy in a fun shade of pink to bring it all together.

The lamps are crystal and classy, because Dolly as sparkly and definitely a classic!

The glass and brass side tables give off a sultry essence; Dolly was sexy!

And the rug is a great supporting player because Dolly was supportive in many ways!!

And if you’re just craving some fun Dolly art for your home (a bit more literal), then slide two is for you!! These are great fun pieces if you really want a Dolly piece of art.

A true legend šŸ’—

Two years in a row!!! I have won the Best of Florida -Interior Design Category šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸ¾šŸ¾šŸ„‚

This year I am one of four winners for the top category.

I am so grateful for those who voted for me, recommended me, support me, or just watch from the sidelines.

Owning your own business is hard. I work really hard to honor my clients, honor my design integrity, and to honor my work goals of being a good listener, putting functionality first, and creating a design a little outside the box.

Thank you so much for being my cheerleaders!

Two things you should know about me if you don’t already!

1. I love beautiful hotels
2. I love theming and storytelling in design

This hotel craddockterryhotel in Lynchburg, Va, did not disappoint on either front.

Their style was lovely and refined without losing the charm of the old factory. šŸ‘šŸ»

The theming was what won me though. A wall of shoes in the lobby, shoes on the room doors, shoe tools every where you looked, and the shoeshine box on the bed for your morning breakfast!! What a fun idea and charming way to serve your breakfast!

If you find yourself in Lynchburg, I highly recommend staying here.

Budg-et??? I don’t know that is. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

When you start working with a designer it’s typically one of the first questions asked. Everyone has one. Make sure you share it. It’s impossible to design without knowing your limits.

And I swear (pinky promise swear) we aren’t asking so we can spend every penny and rob you blind. We need a realistic number to let you know if your project will work or not with the goals you have. And we need to know which stores to source from.

The world is filled with choices, trust me that you don’t want to fall in love with a couch or faucet your designer has shown you only to find out that it’s 5 times more than you thought it should be. Nor do you want your designer showing you something ā€œstandardā€ when you really wanted custom.

Your designer is your friend and here to help you make the best decisions with your budg-et!

And as always - don’t be boring, be bold! Make beautiful choices in your home that feel like you!!

This fireplace was designed over a year ago, but recently my client contacted me to style the shelves.

I used several of her existing items, took a few away and added some new items to give the shelves better balance, visual flow, a few more pops of blue, and added some pieces to balance other areas of her home.

I love working with my clients and providing a follow up service or a secondary area. It means so much to be asked back to someone’s home.

Are you renovating a space in your home? This fireplace went from a boring tv space with no fireplace to a beautiful focal point in their home.

Design has many stages. There’s the concept, the design, the sourcing, the building and ordering, and finally the installation.

These stages all look different and require a different set of my design skills.

Looking for what inspires me and makes me excited!! This can come from anywhere honestly. Here you see it was fashion, rooms that weren’t offices, flowers, artwork, and even a model.

Then taking everything you’ve learned about your client and moving it all around like puzzle pieces, until it clicks into place. Making sure I’ve checked the boxes.

For this project I had to go fully custom designed. I did try and find the pieces of furniture, but none of them were right.

And then the extra pieces, like lighting, hardware and art that make the design really shine. Like the gorgeous rose sconces. šŸ˜

And finally the design stage where it comes together. Thinking through every piece of molding, hinge, the way something swings open, how it will stay open without falling (this was part of the Murphy bed on the other side of the room. See my other post for those images.)

And finally completion!!! And even though I knew we checked all the boxes, and it looked just like the concept images, there were still nerves for the reveal.

This is a complicated job being an interior designer. There’s function and beauty. Learning your client. Learning the products available. Analyzing how something works. Making sure it all fits together. It’s a wonderful profession and I love it, but there’s definitely no magic wand. šŸ˜‰

And as always, don’t be basic (this office definitely is not!!), be bold. Create something unique.

This beautiful office transformation was recently finished.

The ā€œwould love to haveā€ list was for a place to work from home, storage, shelving, a space for her teen daughter to do homework and craft, a place for her mom when she visits and to be pretty.

With the space not being very large, I knew that the best way to do this would be with a Murphy bed. So I did a lot of research for a bed/desk combo and what I found was flimsy, not pretty, made of MDF, or didn’t have the desk or style I wanted for my client.

I wanted the space to feel beautiful, classic, a little bit French, but also be extremely functional.

And what do you do when you can’t find what you are looking for? You design it!!! So, this desk was built with foldable legs, a hinged top, and lays flat so that the bed can pull down. I will say there was a lot of ingenuity that went into this design and a lot of thought on the moving parts.

It is made of solid wood and very sturdy solid parts. Because the desk folds down there are four bins in the open spaces above it that act as drawers and can be pulled out and put back for usefulness.

The light above is a ceiling fan which helps keep a home office cooler, but fits in with the French classic aesthetic.

I have not had a chance to go back and style or professionally photograph yet, so the first image I have used the magic of AI, to help style the shelves. All other photos are authentic with no AI additions.

The hand craftsmanship was done by my husband who does not do this by trade, and has a full time job. He does enjoy a side project (which this might have been bigger than), and is very skilled. The detail is fantastic.

To see this come to life from a hand sketch that I asked him, ā€œdo you think this could work?ā€, has been such a joy.

I am always thrilled when a client comes along on my creative journeys and we create something that makes their life easier and beautiful.
