A little piece of the Southwest, made to carry.

Our stainless 3″ Lockback showcases Kingman turquoise, with blue-green color and earthy matrix that give each handle its own character. Two mother-of-pearl accents add a bright contrast to the stone and polished metal.

Handcrafted in our Santa Fe workshop, this compact folder pairs a stainless steel blade with a dependable lockback mechanism. At 3″ closed, it brings everyday practicality to a pocket-sized piece of art.

Every family business has a first chapter. This is ours.

Santa Fe, circa 1978. Our original founders, Bill Wirtel and John Iverson, pictured with the early Santa Fe Stoneworks crew—John standing in the center, Bill kneeling second from the left.

Bill’s journey brought him from St. Louis and a career at IBM to New Mexico, where a different kind of work took shape: bringing together the practical art of the knife and the ancient craft of cutting stone.

What began with stone, steel and a creative spirit became a family business built around making something beautiful enough to treasure and useful enough to carry.

Forty-eight years later, that story continues. Bill’s children, Anna and Miles, have led Stoneworks for the past decade, carrying forward the craftsmanship and personal connection that started here.

To everyone who has carried, gifted or collected our work—you’ve become part of that story, too.
