My heart is absolutely broken for our friends and neighbors in Ingram, Hunt, Kerrville, and all along the Guadalupe. Like so many of you, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the devastation. The water rose in just fifteen minutes and everything changed.

Our river cabin, which sat across the street and up a slope (not even in the floodplain) was completely destroyed. We weren’t there at the time, but watching how quickly the river overtook everything has been surreal and heartbreaking. Our neighbors lost everything. It’s hard to put into words what this feels like.

This isn’t just a place on a map to me, it’s home. I grew up here. I lived on Mo Ranch. I learned to swim in these rivers. I went to Hunt School and walked to the Hunt Store at lunch with my classmates to get grape Nehi sodas. These are the memories that shaped me.

As the owner of Summer House, this is the only way I know how to help: by helping rebuild homes and restore beauty where it’s been lost. We’re working closely with our suppliers to offer at-cost furniture and décor -no markup, no profit- to anyone affected by the floods. I’m also offering our design services at cost to help families create spaces of comfort and peace again.
