Appliqué, a rare art form. 🧵

We’re proud to be one of the few companies still practicing this embellishment technique. Each of our appliqué borders is carefully stitched along chalked lines that follow an original hand-drawn pattern — all completed at our Eleanor Beard Studio in Hardinsburg, Kentucky. 💜

Embroidery vs. appliqué.🪡 🧵

Jane Scott Hodges and Talley Pike break down the difference between these two historic techniques that are made to last. While appliqué is fabric sewn onto fabric, offering a bolder, more graphic look, embroidery uses thread stitched directly onto fabric, creating a more delicate, finely-detailed effect.🌸 Both options offer a personalized touch to your linens that will make them feel distinctly your own.

Our studio has been perfecting these art forms for over a century right here in the US — every piece sewn on hand-guided machines, never digitized and impossible to replicate.
