What happens when an entire community helps build its future hospital? โจ๐ช๐
Over the past year, Brazee Glass Design collaborated with Margaret Mary Health and 1000 High School students across Batesville to create a monumental community glass mural for the new hospital building opening later this summer.
Inspired by a peaceful woodland sunset photograph by Shay Nartker the mural was designed to bring a sense of calm, reflection, and beauty into the hospital environment for patients, families, and staff. ๐ณ๐ชพ๐ค๏ธ
Brazee transformed the image into a giant glass puzzle made from 1,000 individual tiles. Over four days, more than 1,000 high school students each recreated a portion of the image on a glass tile using colorful frit.
Tile by tile, the community helped build a lasting work of art for the hospital that will serve them for generations. โฅ๏ธ
With expert installation from Wolf Custom Tile, the finished 17-foot mural now lives inside the brand new Margaret Mary Hospital building.
This project is everything we love most about public art: collaboration, creativity, and community coming together to create something beautiful. โจ๐โจ
We cannot wait for the Batesville community to experience it in person!
๐Extra special thanks to Jonathon Maple for making it all possible!
