Blue Period

Blue Period The Blue Period of Pablo Picasso is a concept I have introduced for years in my classroom. It is a fantastic way to show monochromatic art at its peak. Interestingly enough, students sometimes struggle to fully grasp it at first. So, what do I do? I re-think, re-develop, and create scaffolds to help them find a breakthrough. I will try just about anything to help them achieve that creative outcome—whether it's teaching them to press harder on a pencil to show value, creating slide presentations, sharing YouTube or movie clips, providing laminated samples, or showing them how different pencils can manipulate the same color....

My career began in 1999 at PS 279 in the Bronx and evolved through roles at George Jackson Academy and Cardinal Hayes.
