We're Growing!
Two years ago, we at Factory 44 West began an exciting endeavor with the launch of our own line of picture frames called House of Maes. Our frames are now conveniently found at 65 custom frame shops nationwide, with more locations being added!

Going into 2024 we are shifting our focus to expanding and developing House of Maes, which is why we have made the decision to permanently close Factory 44 West. While this decision brings mixed emotions, as we are sad to bid farewell to our frame shop, we are genuinely thrilled to focus on growing our own frame line and wholesale business.

We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support throughout our seven-year journey. Your unwavering dedication has been truly remarkable and has made this new venture possible.

Although our physical store will cease operations, we are delighted to inform you that our photo frames will still be available for purchase on our new website. Additionally, throughout the last 2 years, we have forged valuable connections with exceptional custom frame shops. If you need a recommendation for a custom framer, please do not hesitate to reach out, and we will happily connect you with one of our new partners.

This was a beast of frame to make. 56"x 40" Handcarved by Basically a massive carved frame over a float frame. Also the 1st carved frame we've finished in the painted style.

It was such a pleasure hand painting frames for this pair of mixed media pieces. Bay Area artist Rose Hill paints the girls and her daughter Tish Hill paints the boys.

We went a bit taller with the frame and added a slope for some dimension.

All the rain had us longing for some sun in this

So Ceppie taught me how to oil gild. We have a limited run of Reclaimed Walnut and 22kt gold photo frames available. These all come with reflection free museum glass.

2022 was the year of shadowboxes!

To celebrate our client earning his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu we framed all 5 belts in a texturized shadowbox. We used his Gi as a backdrop for the belts.

The engineering that goes into making shadowboxes is always a challenge but it's also the most satisfying aspect of custom framing.
