Out of all the crazy things we’ve done this might be the craziest. Successful 10 year store in Southern California and we sold most everything off and put the rest online and move to Texas. In Texas we are solely an online reseller. Huge adjustment but if you don’t take chances in life…. Well, you know the rest.

Large community garage sales are a lot like this. Controlled chaos while also a good fun hunt.

Trying to make sure you get to the best yard sales first while also trying to figure out which streets you’ve already been down and… did we really see everything? A different kind of chaos from organized estate sales.

Some resale buying trips are great and others, not so much. This one was ok. We found a decent amount of treasures.

My reseller formula is a lot like Groundhog Day. There are no super reseller tips, just be consistent. Buy, photograph, list, sell, package, ship and the repeat the same over and over and over….. same thing, new day.

Insider facts. Thrift stores will tell you their main goal is not to provide low cost clothing and other items to the needy. Their main goal is to get as much money as they can to fund their charities. This is evidenced by the fact that the bigger stores have crews of people in the back researching values on items to put them at or near market value.
Secondly, I’ve known people in the thrift industry that have sold me massive quantities of clothing at really cheap prices that they could never get on the rack because they know they have more than they could ever sell at any price. They know too much of their used clothing gets tossed out to the tune of 92,000,000 tons annually (collectively).
The fact is, resellers help keep a lot of used clothing alive and repurpose it rather than having it thrown away. So yes, we need 10×100×1000 times more reseller to save clothing from ending up in the landfill.

What we are shipping today as a reseller. Beside this dope hat - A book, a few clothing items, car camera, jar of ink, some vintage collectible dolls, figurine.

Drove pretty far to “huge moving sale” but it never happened. I felt a bit like a stalker parked outside rubber necking to see if there was a sign of life at the house. Unfortunately this happens in the resale game.
Entrepreneurs take it in stride and move on. No other sales this time so we daydreamed about some Texas properties on the way home 😊.
