"While painting is my happy place, what drives me is my belief that creating is a gift that should be used and shared. I have chosen to use my gift to make others smile – that is my mark. So many changes over the past five years. I have retired, married and evolved as an artist. I am constantly stretching my creative muscles and have grown in the process. My path seems to be to challenge myself al

ways, making a habit to embrace the changes in my life and art. But in all of this change some things are constant- my passion to paint, a deep love of nature and using my surroundings as inspiration, but just as much is brought out of everyday events and the overlooked beauty in small things. Creating a connection between the subject matter, me and you. When someone shares my love of a subject and connects to the art, this gives my work meaning. Many of my works have been exhibited at local galleries - Lawrence Street Gallery, Northville Art House and Our Town Art Exhibit

I live in Birmingham, MI with my husband and our cat. When not creating, you will find me in puttering in the garden, reading books and walking or bicycling through the neighborhood.

🚨 BREAKING: Michigan doesn’t ask you to pronounce its town names correctly. It just quietly waits for you to say them wrong… and then every local within a 30-mile radius immediately knows you’re not from here. 🚗🌲💀
You can spot newcomers almost instantly.
They’re confident.
GPS is talking.
Coffee from a gas station in hand.
Life is good.
Then they see:
Mackinac.
And somebody confidently says:
"Mack-in-ack."
The entire vehicle gets uncomfortably quiet.
Because it’s MACK-in-aw. 😭
Then comes:
Charlevoix.
You think:
"Okay, French. I got this."
You do not got this.
Because half the state says it effortlessly while visitors suddenly sound like they're trying to summon an ancient wizard. 💀
Then Michigan starts stacking combos.
Ypsilanti.
Sault Ste. Marie.
Keweenaw.
Ontonagon.
Dowagiac.
Cheboygan.
At this point GPS is no longer navigation.
It’s a pronunciation survival course. 😭
Then somebody sees:
Milan.
And confidently says:
"Like Italy!"
Nope.
In Michigan it's MY-lan. 💀
Then somebody encounters:
Charlotte.
And says:
"Shar-lot."
Wrong again.
Michigan looked at the rest of America and decided it was Shar-LOT. 😭
And that’s the real Michigan test.
Not the potholes.
Not surviving lake-effect snow.
Not explaining the difference between Yoopers and Trolls.
Not pointing to where you live using your hand.
It’s reading a road sign without sounding like you're casting spells from a Great Lakes dictionary.
Because in Michigan, pronunciation isn’t learned.
It’s inherited.
Usually from somebody’s grandpa who has been saying it the same way since 1957 and refuses to entertain alternatives. 🌲😭
Say Mackinac correctly.
Survive Ypsilanti.
Don't panic at Keweenaw.
And maybe... just maybe... you'll blend in long enough that nobody asks where you're from.
Mess it up?
Michigan noticed immediately. 🚗🌊💀
📍 Welcome to Michigan
Where the lakes are easier to navigate than the town names. 😭🌲

🚨 BREAKING: A passenger flying home to Michigan just captured an absolutely unreal view from 33,000 feet. ✈️🌅🛫
As the plane crossed over the Great Lakes State, travelers watched a brilliant orange glow spread across the horizon, lighting up Michigan below like something straight out of a movie. 😳
For a few moments, the endless shoreline, inland lakes, forests, farmland, small towns, and distant city lights seemed to glow as the last light of the day stretched across both peninsulas.
One passenger reportedly looked out the window and said:
"That's either the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen... or Lake Michigan just decided to become liquid gold." 😭🌅💀
Meanwhile Michiganders immediately began responding with:
"Can you see the Mackinac Bridge from up there?" 😂
"Looks like the perfect evening to sit by the lake." 🚤🌊
"Tell me there was classic rock playing when this happened." 🎶😎
"Michigan sunsets never get enough credit." 🌅😭
The breathtaking glow was visible for miles, creating one of those rare moments where an entire airplane suddenly stopped looking at phones and started staring out the windows instead.
From 33,000 feet, Michigan looked like an endless mix of Great Lakes shoreline, forests, rivers, farmland, inland lakes, highways, small towns, and city skylines stretching all the way to the horizon while the sky burned shades of orange, gold, and deep crimson. ✨
One side of the plane had views of sparkling water.
The other had forests, fields, and tiny towns disappearing into the evening light.
And somewhere below, at least one person was probably standing outside in shorts despite it being 54 degrees. 😭
Michigan may be known for the Great Lakes, summer lake days, Friday night football, Mackinac Island, Vernors, and drivers trying to survive I-75, I-94, and I-696...
But every once in a while, the view from an airplane window reminds everyone just how beautiful the Great Lakes State really is. 🌅❤️✈️

🚨 BREAKING: Satellite imagery over Michigan and the Great Lakes is showing something absolutely unreal happening where massive freshwater coastlines, swirling currents, river systems, inland lakes, wetlands, sediment plumes, and changing weather patterns all collide across the Great Lakes State. 🌊🛰️😳
From space, Michigan doesn’t even look like a normal state anymore.
It looks like two giant forest-covered peninsulas floating inside an inland freshwater ocean while glowing blue water swirls around them like the Great Lakes are actively alive. 😭
And no… this isn’t some weird satellite glitch.
This is Michigan’s freshwater systems constantly shifting, mixing, circulating, freezing, thawing, and reshaping themselves in real time.
As winds, storms, currents, snowmelt, river runoff, sediment, and seasonal weather swings move through: • Lake Michigan 🌊
• Lake Superior ❄️
• Lake Huron 🌅
• Lake Erie
• the Straits of Mackinac
• Saginaw Bay
• and thousands of inland lakes scattered across the state…
…giant swirling water patterns become visible from orbit like somebody spilled glowing turquoise paint across the entire Great Lakes region. 🌎✨
And Michigan wildlife follows it too.
🎣 salmon and trout
🦅 bald eagles
🪿 geese controlling entire Meijer parking lots for unknown reasons 😭
🐻 black bears wandering through northern forests
🦌 shoreline deer standing in roads like they pay taxes there 💀
Entire ecosystems react to: • lake-effect weather
• temperature swings
• algae blooms
• storm systems
• ice cover changes
• nutrient-rich runoff
• and currents powerful enough to reshape beaches and coastlines across the state. 😳
Basically:
Michigan becomes one giant freshwater machine powered entirely by Great Lakes chaos, lake-effect snow, inland rivers, wetlands, and weather mood swings aggressive enough to produce sunshine, hail, fog, and a blizzard warning in the same afternoon. 🌊💀
From the rocky shores of Superior… to Sleeping Bear Dunes… to Mackinac Island… to the endless inland lakes up north… Michigan looks completely alive from space. 😳
People standing on a dock near Traverse City or Alpena just see: • calm water
• fishing boats
• seagulls
• and somebody explaining why 52° is technically shorts weather 😭
But from orbit?
Michigan looks like a swirling freshwater kingdom stitched directly into North America. 🌊🌀❄️
Michigan really said:
“Yeah… the Great Lakes basically run our entire personality.” 😭🛰️

🚨 BREAKING: I-75 in Michigan is no longer being classified as a highway by state officials.
It is now considered a full-scale psychological endurance challenge stretching from Detroit to the Upper Peninsula. 🚗🌲💀
You start the trip optimistic.
Tank full. Faygo secured. Maybe a gas station pizza from somewhere that definitely shouldn’t legally be allowed to sell pizza at 6AM. Playlist loaded. Windows cracked because somehow 52° in Michigan already feels like summer. 😭
At first?
Everything feels peaceful enough.
Trees. Lakes. Small towns. Somebody towing a fishing boat north like they’ve fully escaped society. Up North energy is strong. 🌊🌲
Then suddenly…
Brake lights.
Endless brake lights.
For absolutely no visible reason. 💀
No crash. No deer. No weather.
Just all of Michigan collectively deciding: “Nobody’s moving now.”
One lane has somebody doing 61 MPH like they’re sightseeing through Pure Michigan commercials.
The other lane?
A lifted pickup flying past at 94 while aggressively tailgating everyone with a “Salt Life” sticker and three kayaks strapped to the roof. 😭
And somehow directly between them is a rusty Nissan Altima held together entirely by Mackinac Bridge stickers, faith, and expired tabs.
Then MDOT enters the chat. 🚧💀
Orange barrels begin spawning across the freeway like Michigan unlocked a construction DLC nobody asked for.
Lanes randomly shift.
Concrete barriers appear overnight.
One sign says: “LEFT LANE CLOSED 3 MILES.”
Another says: “MERGE IMMEDIATELY.”
A third sign appears to simply say: “Good luck.” 😭
Meanwhile Michigan weather starts freelancing.
Sunny near Detroit.
Thunderstorm near Flint.
Random sideways rain outside Bay City.
Dense fog near Grayling.
Then somehow snowflakes appear near Ga***rd even though your dashboard says it’s May. 🌨️💀
And once you head farther north?
Every gas station suddenly becomes: • beef jerky
• ice cream
• hunting supplies
• fudge
• and a wooden bear statue carved by somebody named Rick.
You finally think traffic is clearing…
Then somebody in front of you slows to 12 MPH because they “thought they saw a bald eagle.” 🦅😭
Miss your exit near Detroit?
Congratulations.
You now belong to: • I-696
• M-10
• one terrifying left-side merge
• and a spiritual battle involving lodge traffic and pure confusion.
Northbound or southbound doesn’t matter.
Eventually every Michigan driver reaches the exact same conclusion:
I-75 isn’t transportation.
It’s Pure Michigan survival training with potholes. 🚔🌲🚧
