There’s something incredibly fulfilling about opportunities to pour into the next generation.

I’m still reflecting on an amazing experience at Bowie State University’s ONE Yard: The HBCU Experience, where I served as an Industry Advisor for the 60-Second Pitch Challenge.

I was especially honored to be chosen as the mentor for three student pitchers, sharing lessons from my entrepreneurial journey and helping them strengthen their presentations.

It was a pleasure sharing the experience with Councilman Harrison and the other panelists, and meeting Bowie State University President Dr. Aminta H. Breaux.

Special thanks to the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center and the entire EIC team for the invitation and for creating spaces for our future entrepreneurs to dream BIG.🎯

Grateful for the platform, the experience, and every opportunity to pour forward.

This transformation was about so much more than a beautiful dining room.

My client had experienced the unimaginable loss of her son, and when I entered her home, I understood that I wasn’t simply being trusted to redesign rooms. I was being trusted with a space that held memories, emotions and a woman who deserved to feel some light again.

So every decision was intentional. I wanted her home to feel alive again. Warm. Bold. Beautiful. A place where she could continue creating new memories while still honoring everythingand everyone she carries with her.

And baby, we did NOT play it safe.

The rich berry walls brought the drama…
The oversized mirror brought movement…
The chandelier brought the jewelry…
And that floral ceiling? That was the moment.

That combination is much more NyRai to me because it demonstrates what Changing Lives & Homes actually means.

One thing I’m going to do is smile. That’s because I’m still just as excited about creating spaces today as I was when this journey began. 🖤

I don’t simply walk into a room asking, “How can I make this prettier?”

I’m asking:

What design problems need to be solved?
How should this space feel?
How does my client need it to function?
What can we do that feels uniquely theirs?
And what will make them walk through the door and say, “THIS feels like me.” I never want to leave

That’s the difference between simply decorating a room and intentionally designing an experience.

Where the home gathers, it should hold more than just a table.

A moody black envelope with sculptural golden moments.Where it feels less like a dining room and more like a destination.

Because the rooms we gather in should have presence. They should spark conversation, set the tone, and make an ordinary Tuesday dinner feel a little more important.

Design should never just match. It should mean something.

And sometimes, the most unforgettable spaces are the ones bold enough to break the rules.

I’m excited and honored to be personally invited to join Bowie State University as an Industry Advisor for the 60 Second Pitch Challenge during One Yard: The HBCU Experience, a signature Welcome Week event presented by the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center (EIC) in partnership with TV One/Urban One.

This experience celebrates the creativity, innovation, culture, and entrepreneurial spirit of HBCU students, and I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to pour into the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Building a business has taught me that sometimes you only get 60 seconds to communicate a BIG vision and learning to share that vision with confidence, clarity, and purpose can open doors you never imagined.
