A special project and a great morning celebrating the people bringing it back to life!

Jim, Lindsay, and Luke Trout joined Indiana Landmarks on Sunday for the House of Tomorrow Insiders’ Brunch in Beverly Shores. Jim was on hand to answer guests’ questions about the “all-glass house,” share details about the glazing work, and explain some of the challenges involved in restoring such a unique building.

Originally built for the 1933 Century of Progress Exposition, the House of Tomorrow is the final home from that collection to undergo restoration. Trout Glass & Mirror is proud to be part of preserving this piece of architectural history—and with a house like this, the glass is a pretty big part of the story!

A key part of our work was preserving the home’s original design intent while incorporating modern glazing technology and framing to improve energy efficiency. Maintaining that historic appearance while bringing the glass and framing systems up to today’s performance expectations took careful planning and collaboration.

Projects like this take years of planning and skilled craftsmanship. Thank you to our TGM team and skilled union Glaziers, our partners at Kawneer and Trulite Glass, and everyone involved for the work that has brought this restoration so far.

A special thank-you to Indiana Landmarks for including us and hosting a wonderful morning. As a family-owned company, getting to share a project like this with the next generation makes it even more meaningful.

We’re proud to have Addison Reiser spending time with us at Trout Glass through Westville’s Work-Based Learning program!

Addison has been helping us tackle an important project—digitizing and organizing years of company records. It’s real work that helps Trout Glass while giving her hands-on experience with technology, organization, data management, and how a business operates behind the scenes.

Programs like this are a great way for students to get out of the classroom, experience the workplace firsthand, and start building skills they can carry into whatever career path they choose.

Great job, Addison! We’re glad to have you as part of the Trout Glass team and proud to support Work-Based Learning opportunities for local students.

WORK-BASED LEARNING SPOTLIGHT!

Meet Addison Reiser, who is gaining valuable real-world experience through Work-Based Learning while working in the Management & Entrepreneurship Career Cluster!

Addison is helping digitize files, turning important paper records into organized digital documents. This behind-the-scenes work may seem simple, but it provides valuable experience with data management, organization, attention to detail, technology, and administrative support—skills that are important in businesses and organizations across every industry.

We’re proud of Addison for building valuable workplace skills and gaining hands-on experience in a career area that plays an important role in nearly every industry.

Leadership isn’t measured by what you accomplish for yourself, but by what you leave behind for others. Thank you, Mike and Helene, for continuing to invest in our community and setting an example for all of us.

Duneland YMCA to honor generous gift of Mike and Helene Trout for flagpole and monument at Healthy Living Campus

The Duneland Family YMCA is proud to announce a generous philanthropic investment by Mike and Helene Trout, whose gift continues a family legacy of beneficence, leadership, and community commitment.

The Trouts’ support will be recognized in the naming of the flagpole and monument on the YMCA Healthy Living Campus (YHLC), honoring their lasting impact on the organization and its future.

“The Trout Family's generous investment in the Healthy Living Campus is a testament to their longstanding commitment to our community and the YMCA,” Duneland Family YMCA CEO Dave Kasarda said. “Their gift will create a meaningful gathering place that welcomes visitors to the campus while serving as a lasting symbol of patriotism, service, and community pride. We are deeply grateful for their support and honored to recognize their family through the naming of the flagpole and monument.”

For Mike and Helene, this investment continues a family tradition of giving, service, and belief in the YMCA’s mission. Inspired by a similar act of generosity by Helene’s mother in Arlington Heights, Ill., the Trout Family saw this opportunity as a way to honor the values which have shaped their own family for generations.

The Duneland Family YMCA has long been woven into the fabric of the family’s own story. Mike served on the YMCA’s Board of Directors during the late 1980s and early 1990s, a period of significant financial challenge when the organization still never wavered in its commitment to serving members and the broader community. That same spirit of service has been passed from one generation to the next. Today, their son, Jim, proudly serves on the board, while their grandchildren have embraced the Y through its sports and youth programming. Their enduring connection shows how one generation’s generosity can inspire the next and strengthen the Duneland Family YMCA for years to come.

“The YMCA Healthy Living Campus is a game changer for our community,” Mike Trout said. “It has been uniquely developed to serve nearly every demographic, from infants to seniors, and it will be an asset that Duneland can be proud of for generations. The Y has meant so much to our family over the years, and we are grateful to support this project in a meaningful way.”

A lasting legacy can begin with one act of giving. Learn more about supporting the YHLC at www.dunelandymca.org/dunelandyhlc

Another Mid-Year Safety Day is officially in the books at Trout Glass & Mirror!

Yes, this was two weeks ago… but we got the important “Race Day at Trout Glass” post out on time. The full recap just had to wait its turn in the inbox chaos.

We spent the day focused on what matters most: keeping our team safe, trained, and ready for the work we do every day. From our mid-year safety review to continued training and discussion, it was a great reminder that safety is not just a meeting — it is part of the culture our team continues to build.

A big thank you to Dow Corning and S&S Panel for being here and talking with our team about all things sealants. We appreciate the time, knowledge, and support they brought to the day.

A big thank you as well to Kawneer for accepting our invite — and our challenge — and being part of the day with us. We appreciate the continued partnership, support, and willingness to spend time with our team for a day built around safety, training, and a little friendly competition.

We wrapped things up the Trout Glass way with lunch from Classic Catering & Events, including their wood-fired pizza, followed by our 2nd Annual Pinewood Derby. The cars, creativity, and racing did not disappoint.

Congratulations to Kenny Hayes, this year’s race winner! 🏁

Cliff, our official/unofficial safety dog, was also on hand to keep an eye on the competition, inspect the cars, keep morale high, and perform his most important duty: making sure no food was left behind on the floor.

Thank you to everyone who participated, helped set up, built cars, cheered each other on, and made the day a success. We are grateful for this team and proud of the way everyone continues to show up for safety, training, teamwork, and each other.
