The transition has begun… As we start to say “good bye” to the elegance of spring, and in anticipation of the coming bounty of summertime, we get to savor the whimsy of this in-between season.

This week’s subscription bouquets bridge this seasonal gap beautifully with Iceland poppies, snapdragon, foxglove, nigella, fragrant stock, and peonies.

The quintessential peony.

Sarah Bernhardt has been around since 1906! (Yes, I did have to look that up.) But it’s no surprise that she’s been a favorite to so many for so long… She has approximately 2-billion petals, all fluffy and fringed to perfection, ranging in color from the palest blush to nearly bubblegum pink. What’s not to love!?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

I’m not talking about Christmas. I’m talking about peony season!

These pictures are from one of our earliest seasons of flower farming when I was celebrating my first BIG harvest from our few beds of peonies. It felt magical. Like a dream come true!

After years of “joking” that I wanted one of our four flower fields to consist entirely of peonies, it has happened! We now have nearly 200 plants on our little farm.

And now this time of year means I’m hauling in armloads similar to the one pictured every single day. And it still feels magical. It’s a dream come true!!
