Happy Sunday, Everyone!

Earlier this year, I did a scary thing. I started over on Instagram. 🫣

And I could really use your help.

It’s brand new. Like, baby account brand new. 🐣

The ultimate goal is 1,000 followers! There are tools that will help my pictures reach new people at that level.

If you like what you see from me here, you'll like it over there, too. I promise! Thank you in advance for helping me get this off the ground. It means a lot!

Find me on Instagram:

I'll put the link in the first comment to make it easy 👇🏻

Human to human… this is your reminder to give yourself a break.

Not when everything is finished.
Not when your list is done.
Not when you’ve “earned it.”

Just for a minute. Right now.

Smell the roses. 🌹

Otter Time!

I found this otter using a giant rock to crack open his clam lunch! I watch these little guys for hours and hours and am always amazed by how clever they are.

I hope this made your day better!

Which looks better, 1 or 2?

(Or neither? It's ok if you tell me, I can't be everyone's favorite flavor) 😘

Both pieces are actual photographs taken by me and my camera on two different beautiful ocean mornings just after sunrise.

I know the voice. I have one too.

The one that says:

finish one more thing.
answer one more email.
clean one more corner.
prove you earned the break.

Even I need constant reminding:

✓ Rest is not something I unlock after I’ve been useful enough.
✓ Stepping outside is not wasting time.
✓ That looking at the trees, feeling the air, and letting my body relax for one minute is sometimes the exact thing I needed most.

So here is your reminder, and mine too:

Take the break! Just breathe.

Not all wall things are the same wall thing.
Please stop calling everything with a frame “fine art.”
Your walls know the difference. I promise. 😘

The ocean has a way of quieting the noise in my head and helping me feel like myself again. It softens me, slows me down, and reminds me what matters.

Does the ocean do this for you?

Stop calling every break a waste.

While I was “working,” I somehow ended up taking pictures of the ocean instead (distracted by dolphins, every time).

But maybe that was the work.

Because for some of us, giving ourselves a few minutes of a break with nature isn’t a distraction.
It is how we come back to ourselves.

Because grounded people do better work anyway!

Perspective Shift: Stop trying to earn rest.

I came out to photograph sea otters, but they ended up reminding me of something I think a lot of us forget...

You see, sea otters spend about 10-12 hours a day sleeping because life in cold water costs them a lot of energy. They don't have blubber like other marine mammals, so their metabolism has to work extra hard to stay warm. All this sleep helps them conserve energy to stay alive.

It's not a reward.
It's not because they failed.
It's not because they are lazy.

It's because resting is part of survival.

It got me thinkin'...
Maybe we were never supposed to wait to rest until everything was done.
Maybe we need to slow down so we can be more effective when we speed up!

Taking pictures near the sea is actually part of my resting ritual these days. And I don't get nearly enough of it!

The ocean saves me every day. Here's how I help protect it.

There was a season where I was running so hard I didn't notice I was disappearing. 60+ hours a week at an accounting job I didn't like, no days off, only sleeping 4-6 hours a night, never allowing myself to rest.

High-functioning. Responsible. And completely empty inside.

Then one weekend, my husband peeled me away from work and drove to the beach. And the moment we pulled up, before I even got out of the car, something happened.

My thoughts slowed. My shoulders dropped. The tightness in my chest released. I felt like myself again.
I hadn't gone looking for that. I thought I was just going camping.

But the ocean didn't wait for permission.

I'd forgotten that's what it's always been for me. Its not just a place I love, its something that regulates me. Restores me. And reminds me what matters.

Even when I'm trapped in the desert at home, when I look up at an ocean picture mid-workday, I feel my shoulders drop as if I'm there.

That's why up to 20% of every sale of my fine art photography goes directly to ocean cleanup.

The ocean gives. So I give back. 🌊

Follow (and like ♥️) to help protect what heals you!
