Metal Detectors at Waynesboro High School
On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, students will begin a new semester and there is a new change for which to be prepared.
Starting on that day, metal detectors will be used daily when entering the school. This step is a part of the ongoing commitment to keeping our school a safe and welcoming place to learn and grow.
What to know:
-Students will enter through designated entrances (the main entrance and rear entrance).
-Staff will be on hand each morning to help things to move smoothly.
-Please arrive on time and follow staff directions to help keep the process quick and easy.
Everyday school items are still allowed (Chromebooks, binders, keys, etc.), but students may be asked to remove certain items from their bags, such as Chromebooks, metal binders, or umbrellas, as they enter.
Such security measures are a necessary part of modern life, unfortunately. Local people began encountering metal detectors at Augusta Health, our local hospital, in recent months, too.
