New York hunters have a chance to win a lifetime hunting license while helping protect the state's wild deer population!
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is asking hunters in targeted areas of Herkimer and Otsego counties to submit harvested deer heads for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) testing this hunting season.
CWD was detected in a captive deer herd in Herkimer County in 2024. Wildlife officials are now working to determine whether the disease has spread to New York's wild deer population.
