I’ve always loved houndstooth. Apparently, I was even dressing Wesley in it at five, so clearly this pattern has been following us for a while.

Then Saturday evening, my black-and-white toile dress demanded that I grab my recently acquired houndstooth coat just to see them together.

Days later, I tried the combination on for fit in a room, and here we are.

Houndstooth. Toile. Oxblood velvet. Black linen. White linen. Shades.

Fashion has never stopped at the closet.

The runway, our interiors and the way we live eventually begin speaking the same language, and at Beyond Shades, we make it our business to stay fluent.

Last night was a beautiful reminder of just how much inspiration Chicago has to offer, from incredible fashion to wonderful friends and an unforgettable evening.

Congratulations to 40 years Barbara Bates, thank you for your tremendous vision, leadership and unwavering commitment to community. Last night was truly outstanding.

Here’s to fashion, design and the greatest city in the world.

There is such an art to making someone feel and look like the most elevated version of themselves, and Hinsdale Living does it beautifully every single time.

DESIGN VISIONARY.

What an incredible way to begin Q4.

I’m honored to be featured in Hinsdale Living among such an extraordinary group of women.

Some of these women I’ve worked alongside since the very beginning of our businesses, more than a decade ago. Several I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the years. We proudly support some of their small businesses, and there are a few I still dream of having the opportunity to work with.

That makes this recognition especially meaningful.

Beyond Shades began in a guest bedroom after I exited corporate America with a five month old son and a five year old daughter.

Today, we are a Hunter Douglas Gallery, a Farrow & Ball stockist, and part of the vibrant interior design landscape of the Western Suburbs and Chicagoland.

And I’m still building, with intention and a clear vision for what comes next.
