Everyone deserves the opportunity to read, learn, and grow—and your gently used books can make a difference!
As you clean out your bookshelves (making room for those new reads 😉), consider donating your books to local organizations that serve those who need them most:
• Youth in foster care
• Women’s and children’s shelters
• Local homeless shelters
• Community nonprofits serving families and children
And don’t forget your local Human Services Department! Many have family visitation rooms where parents and children spend time together, and they are often in need of children’s books.
Instead of letting those books collect dust on a shelf, pass them along and let the stories keep going. A book you’ve already enjoyed could become someone else’s favorite—and maybe even open the door to a lifelong love of reading.
Clean your shelves. Share a story. Pay it forward!

How do I “use” worms in my garden?
Well… it depends on your garden!
If you have a compost pile, putting worms directly into it may not be the best use of your little wigglers. They can migrate out if there isn’t enough food, and if your compost pile gets too “hot,” the worms may not survive.
What CAN you do? Keep your worms in a dedicated worm bin! Plastic totes or 5-gallon buckets with ventilation holes can work well. Feed your worms food scraps and partially broken-down compost, and they’ll turn it into nutrient-rich worm castings (aka worm p**p!
As the bin fills, you’ll need to harvest some of the castings to make room for more food. And if your red wigglers need a little nutritional boost, Coastal Castings also offers Worm Chow to help keep your worms healthy and happy.
Have a container garden? Worms can be a great addition! They help keep the soil biologically active while contributing to nutrient cycling. As a starting point, try 2–4 red wigglers per square foot of growing space. Just be sure the container stays moist, well-aerated and doesn’t get excessively hot.
And if you need some lively, healthy red wigglers for your garden, Coastal Castings has you covered!
Let OUR worms do the work!
