September 25th is officially Dolly Day — and somehow, that feels like a day we’ve been celebrating our whole lives. 💗
Because Dolly Parton has never just been the hair, the rhinestones, the heels, or the songs.
She showed generations of women that we could be soft and strong. Feminine and fearless. Kind and wildly ambitious. That we could come from humble beginnings, dream bigger than the circumstances we were born into, build something entirely our own — and never have to become hard to become powerful.
She taught us to laugh at ourselves, believe in ourselves, give back when we make it, and never apologize for taking up a little extra space — or wearing a little extra sparkle while we do it.
One of my favorite things she’s ever said is:
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” — Dolly Parton
Maybe that’s why so many of us see a little bit of ourselves in her.
The women building businesses. Raising babies. Starting over. Chasing impossible dreams. Walking into rooms we were once afraid to enter. Staying gracious while refusing to make ourselves smaller.
Somewhere along the way, Dolly gave women permission to be all of it at once.
And I think a whole lot of who we are today has a little Dolly in it.
So here’s to the woman who taught us to dream big, work hard, love people well, stay true to ourselves — and never underestimate the power of a woman who knows exactly who she is.
