Yesterday was a full installation day for this primary bedroom refresh. Our dream team, including our go to handyman Will from Fortis Property, and my design assistant Megan, tackled it all. Still some problem solving ahead and a few more furniture pieces and layers to come!on the Can’t wait to show you the finished space soon!

This one was hard to leave.

I’m not a big fan of an overly designed dorm room. It’s just not practical, affordable, or realistic for a year. So after a trip to Blick Art Supply, my daughter and I put together a wall that felt like her: pages from a William Morris calendar, a book of botanicals, handmade celestial paper, old CD covers mixed with photos of the people she loves and washi tape. Simple, personal, and easy to pack up in May. Getting on that plane without her was the hard part.

In NYC dropping my daughter off at college and staying at the most chic little Airbnb called Untitled. Met the plant designer behind the Ficus Audrey in the lobby lounge, an unexpected tree adding so much sculpture and beauty in this space. Endlessly inspired by rooms built in layers.

Shout out to Cupcake Landscape- thanks for all the plant tips!

Today’s color crush: Benjamin Moore Wickham Gray 🩶

This chameleon of a hue shifts between soft blue gray and warm green gray depending on the light, making it one of the most versatile shades in the Historic Color palette. It’s moody without going dark, and pairs beautifully with warm woods, brass, and creamy whites.

Where would you use this one? Kitchen cabinets, a cozy den, or maybe a whole house exterior?

Revere Pewter — one of Benjamin Moore’s most-used historic colors, and for good reason. A client in New York once asked me, “When is this the wrong color?” My answer: it’s never the wrong color. It’s a true chameleon, both warm and cool, and endlessly soothing.

In this primary bedroom, I paired it with inexpensive IKEA curtain panels custom-hemmed to length. That small tailoring detail alone made them feel so much more luxe than their price tag.

Benjamin Moore’s Historic Color of the Day: Hale Navy. This shade was everywhere in the 2010s, and I painted our family room this color a decade ago. Still love it.

It’s saturated and rich, people always ask if it’s black or navy. It creates the perfect backdrop for bright whites and ivory. I’ve used Hale Navy in dining rooms, on exterior front doors, and it’s an easy favorite for a den or family room.

Some colors fade with trends. This one just works.

50 years of Benjamin Moore’s Historic Color collection and Yorktown Green is one of my favorites. This Webster Groves primary bedroom went all in: deep green walls, woven bamboo shades, layered under soft white curtain panels, plus a few florals for warmth. Exactly what our client wanted. More historic color favorites coming this week!

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, but behind the scenes there’s been a lot happening.

My son is visiting from LA, I’m helping my daughter get ready for her first dorm room in New York, and I also have several new projects currently under construction. It’s a full season in both life and work, and I’m grateful for all of it.

I’m hoping to finish one project in early September, and I can’t wait to share the end results with you.

Coastal, in Blush

As we start saying goodbye to summer, I’m seeing all the back-to-school photos already! ☀️

So I thought I’d share one of my favorite summer bedrooms. We designed this space for a teen who is now getting ready for her very first apartment. How does that happen so fast?

And who says coastal has to be blue and white? Think about all the soft pinks, peaches and warm neutrals you see in a sunset over the water. 🌊🐚💕

Coastal can be soft, feminine and a little unexpected, and this room still feels like summer to me.

More views of this Japandi-inspired living room. 🤍

Warm woods, clean lines, natural textures and a quiet, neutral palette give this space the calm, collected feeling we were after.

And the greenery was the perfect finishing layer. 🌿 Thank you to Best Laid Plants for sourcing these gorgeous plants and to Joel Marion Photography for capturing the space so beautifully.
