Proper technique can make all the difference when sanding a hardwood floor. Joe Maxe with Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council recommends keeping these tips in mind when working with a Lagler Hummel belt sanding machine:

1️⃣ Check floor flatness: Use the drum lever to identify areas where the floor is rising or sloping before you begin sanding.

2️⃣ Adjust belt tracking: Make small, incremental adjustments to keep the belt running properly along the drum without hitting the housing.

3️⃣ Sand at a slight angle: Working across imperfections can help prevent vibration chatter and waves along the length of the floor.

4️⃣ Sand left to right: Keeping the machine’s wheels on an already-sanded surface helps achieve optimal flatness.
