I will never forget that chilling day—January 12, 2010. We were awakened by a phone call from my mother after spending half the night in the ER with our two-week-old infant. Her voice was urgent and shaken as she told us that the end had come for Haiti. She reassured us that everyone in our immediate family was alive, but after that one phone call, all communication went silent for over a week.

We were left scared and helpless, watching from afar as the news revealed the magnitude of the earthquake that had devastated our homeland. In the days that followed, we learned of the many loved ones we had lost. The pain was overwhelming, and the distance made it even harder to bear.

We remember those we’ve lost. We will never forget.

Sometimes God gives you an inspiration to do something, and you don't even grasp it's significance in the moment. I even forgot that I made these a while ago.

But today, as I reflected and prayed about all that's going on, I am reminded that our breath is the greatest gift God has ever given to us.

I think most Haitians are going through some level of turmoil these days. 

This gang situation is so complicated! Last week we were crying with our brothers and sisters who had to flee their homes due to gangs taking over their neighborhoods.  This week we cheer a police operation that prevented gangs from taking over Petionville, killing numerous gang members. 

I can't help but to fixate  on the conditions that have led our young men and women to join these terrible gangs.  They are our children who did not have opportunities to build a stable life, in which they could attain gainful employment.  So
Countless of them find themselves enslaved to evil greedy individuals who control the country.  Now they are losing their lives to enrich those people even more.

So unfortunate, so sad, so devastating that yesterdays' children are today's terrorists.  So terribly debilitating!
