Some spaces carry history in their walls.

Carmelo's has been a neighborhood staple for years. When new ownership came to us, their ask was simple but not easy: honor what made this place beloved, and design it for what it could become.

Our job was to modernize without erasing. We leaned into the warmth of the original space and built a design concept rooted in Italian American character, thoughtful materials, and details that feel timeless rather than trendy.

This was an e-design project, meaning the owners brought the vision to life themselves.

Some bathrooms are designed to be noticed. This one is designed to be remembered.

This is the main bathroom of our Playa del Carmen short term rental. A space that still got the full H&P treatment. Olive green walls that feel grounded in the surroundings. Art that reflects the culture. Finishes chosen not just for beauty but for the kind of guest traffic a well-booked STR actually sees.

This is what we mean when we say every room deserves intention. Even the ones guests only spend a few minutes in.

More decisions went into this vanity area than you might think. 👇🏾

The wallpaper pattern. The mirror shape. The faucet finish. The countertop material. Every single one was tested against the others before anything was confirmed.

That is what intentional design actually looks like behind the scenes. Not one big decision. A series of smaller ones that either hold together or fall apart.

Because something as small as a powder room deserves just as much attention as the rest of the home.

A guest bedroom worth lingering in. ✨

Just because it is a guest room does not mean it gets the leftover furniture and the least interesting wall. Every guest deserves to walk into a room that feels like it was thought about.

The grasscloth accent wall, the layered bedding, the art. None of it is accidental. All of it is there to make someone feel genuinely welcomed. And while the room has its own identity, it was designed to feel like a natural part of the home, not a space that was figured out separately.

This is how we design. Spare room or not.

We told ourselves this Mexico site visit would be stress-free.

It was NOT. 😂

A weather delay grounded us and we lost a day and a half onsite. But our client needed us there. So we flew back to DC, rebooked out of a different airport, and landed in Mexico with 24 hours to do measurements, interview vendors, and visit showrooms.

This is the part of international design work nobody talks about. The delays, the detours, the decisions you have to make when everything goes sideways. And the reason you show up anyway.

Because that is what it means to take care of your client. ✨

This Fort Lincoln townhouse belonged to a busy DC professional with an extensive art collection, a clear sense of style, and a home that just had not caught up yet.

The bones were solid. But warm beige walls and dark hardwood floors were working against the natural light and against the life being lived inside.

Lighter oak floors and cool grey millwork walls changed everything. The same windows suddenly had somewhere to send the light. The home office got a bold navy accent wall and gold arched shelving that finally gave the room an identity to match its owner.

The space did not need to be bigger. It just needed to stop working against itself.

Can't decide what goes at the foot of the bed?

The bench versus the ottoman is less about style and more about how you actually use your bedroom.

The bench gives the foot of the bed one clean, uninterrupted line. Polished, intentional, easy to style. The ottomans give you flexibility. Move them, separate them, use them as extra seating when the room needs it.

Both options are right. The one that wins is the one that fits your life.
