My Spring Swap mate was incredibly interesting with so many cool interests (HP!) and an accomplished career as a pharmacist and I had so many ideas on what I could stitch for her. But I kept coming back to her saying she and her husband were bee keepers and “pro all things pollinator”. I wanted to celebrate spring and bees! Plus I wanted to stitch her amazing dog Hagrid.

I started stitching Stitch People portraits on a whim, receiving my first commissioned order six years ago today. Wow! Countless people have asked me to stitch their loved ones, both friends and strangers alike. My work has traveled the globe; been in the hands of musicians and influencers alike. I have met some unbelievably encouraging, wonderful people through stitching, made some friends I will champion and cherish forever more. My skills have grown and my confidence has too. I discovered so many amazing thread brands and neat methods and fun tools. I am so honored to know and , and will thank her every day for making cross stitch interesting and relatable to me again. And thanks to my momma , who taught me when I could barely stay focused on the craft and adored a horribly misspelled ornament when I probably would have lost all hope in ever being good at this craft, had she not.

It’s a strange business, one that I spend most of my time alone doing, usually at night, binging tv and eating too many peppermint candies. Just me and some fabric and floss and my iPad of patterns. But when I see how many people have reached out to me, I don’t feel so alone.

Sometimes, colored fabrics are the best choice for helping outfits (and fur tones) stand out. When I feel a gray or blue might better suit the portrait, I will let you know.

I stitched this beautiful family on a light pewter 14 ct from my favorite local shop. Great Danes, hounds and wolf dogs to make you smile on this National Puppy Day!

I finally can share this amazing order I received in January. These newlyweds just bought this incredible home (I poured over the Zillow pics and am a bit envious of the pool) and wanted to commemorate their new life together. A week before I shipped, they announced they had gotten a new puppy, so I popped him in over the already stitched sidewalk to make sure everything was perfect. I never thought I would be stitching homes a year ago, but here I am, kind of loving it! And yes, that is a dirt bike.

I love the doggies, especially learning about breeds I have never even heard of. Did you know there are about 11 breeds of dogs who look like wolves but aren’t actually wolves? I had to adapt a woodland creature pattern to suit this mystery breed but challenges keep stitching so much fun!

How could I have forgotten to share this one? My cousin became a proud grandparent last fall (but don’t call her grandma!) and I was commissioned to make this as a birthday present of her and her husband and baby Oliver. Added a red cardinal in the tree to represent her dad (my uncle) who passed 3 years ago.

I am always stitching but often what I make are gifts and I hold back on sharing them and then I plumb forget to share them.

It’s been two years since I stitched this beauty for and my friend hand delivered it to them at a Meet and Greet. Ahhhh remember live music and Meet and Greets? I’ve rocking out to their music today on this uncharacteristically sunny February day. Life is short, make it sweet 😘

A sweet family portrait I was commissioned to do for Christmas for one of my own friends! I met Lauren in MOMS Club and she is always a cheerful, friendly face to see, whenever I run into her. Lauren had reached out to me years ago to do a portrait for her friend Jenna and Jenna returned the gesture this last year. They really do make lovely gifts!
