Musk ox! Oomingmak!
These beautiful, bearded beasts are the source of that incredibly luscious, warm qiviut fiber.
I crocheted a qiviut beret just in time for the annual “OXtoberfest” at the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer, Alaska, on Saturday. 🧶🦬
It was a typical blustery day in the Valley, but a little wind never thwarts outdoor adventures for hearty Alaskans—especially when you have qiviut to keep you warm!
And as you can see, the musk ox LOVED every bit of that chilly, blustery weather! 🏔️🌬️
There’s just something pretty special about creating with a fiber that comes from these magnificent Alaska animals.
