Mid-October is when a fall porch either settles in or starts to look tired.
The entries that still read beautifully on the first of November are rarely the ones with the most on them. They're the ones somebody edited.
What that looks like: take away what's spent instead of adding more to cover it. One soft mum will pull the whole arrangement down with it. Let the big heirlooms carry the composition — a deep-ribbed Cinderella, a Jarrahdale in dusty blue-green — because they hold their shape long after the blooms are finished. Then bring in texture that doesn't mind the cold: evergreen, a cut of magnolia, something with weight to it.
That edit is also the quiet handoff into the holidays. The same bones that carried your fall entry — the risers, the planters, the proportion of the whole thing — are exactly what a winter doorway gets built on.
Our harvest is hand-selected from Amish growing partners in Lamoni, then delivered and layered in place on your doorstep. Fall Concierge Packages begin at $325 across the Des Moines metro. And if you're already thinking toward holiday greenery, we'd love to hear about your doorway.
