Alright—this is a great message, it just needs a little polish so it lands without sounding like a lecture from the dugout. Here are two options depending on how sharp you want it:
⸻
Version 1 — Balanced (cheeky but grounded):
Let’s be honest…
If there’s even the slightest chance your kid makes it to the pros, the character you build now will matter more than the swing, the arm, or the stats.
Because talent might get them there—but character is what keeps it from all going sideways.
At some point, they’ll get hit with a tidal wave—attention, praise, opportunity… and yes, plenty of people who suddenly become their “biggest fans.”
Some are real. Some… not so much.
If they don’t know how to stay grounded, keep perspective, celebrate the wins without believing their own hype, and take the losses without falling apart… well, that story doesn’t usually end great.
We’ve all seen that movie.
So while we’re chasing wins this week—
we’re also building humans who can actually handle them.
⸻
Version 2 — A little sharper, more cheeky:
Hot take for the week…
If your kid has even a remote shot at going pro, the most important thing you’re building right now isn’t their batting average—it’s their character.
Because if they make it, they’re not just getting a contract…
they’re getting a tidal wave of attention, praise, pressure, and a whole lot of people who suddenly “believe in them.”
(Spoiler: not all of them do.)
If they don’t know how to stay grounded, handle success, and learn from failure—
they won’t just struggle… they’ll be the next “what happened to him?” story.
And nobody signs up for that.
So yes, let’s go win some games—
but let’s also make sure we’re raising kids who can handle winning.
