Gratitude.
Living in the Palm Beaches is something I never take for granted. For the past two years, I have been incredibly grateful to be a member of the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce. Ten months out of every year, more than 500 business leaders gather for an early morning breakfast meeting.
The night before is met with anticipation about getting up at 5:00 a.m. to begin my journey toward the rising sun. Once out of the neighborhood, I am greeted by the beautiful pink skies that appear just before daybreak. There is something peaceful and inspiring about watching a new day unfold as I make my way to Palm Beach, and it serves as a reminder of how fortunate we are to call this beautiful place home.
Our destination each month is the iconic Breakers Palm Beach, a property that is as rich in history as it is in beauty. One fascinating fact I learned is that The Breakers is still owned by the Kenan family, direct descendants of Henry Flagler. It is one of only about 1,100 family-owned businesses in the United States that have remained under the same ownership for more than 100 years.
This morning, we were welcomed by Paul N. Leone, President and CEO of The Breakers Palm Beach, who took us on a remarkable journey through the history of this legendary resort. It was a wonderful reminder of the vision, perseverance, and legacy that helped shape Palm Beach into what it is today.
As we look ahead, this chapter is coming to a close. Beginning next season, The Breakers will no longer be able to accommodate our growing Chamber membership of more than 500 attendees each month. While we will miss gathering in such a special place, it is a testament to the incredible growth of our business community.
Stay tuned for our September meeting, when I'll share a recap from our new location—another iconic Palm Beach property. New beginnings are always exciting, but today I am simply grateful for the experiences, relationships, and memories made at The Breakers.
