A little message from me this morning!
I truly love baking & I’m so incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported my little business. But one of the hardest parts of running a small business is realizing that some people forget there is a real person behind it.
I’ve dealt with people shorting me on orders, ghosting after I’ve held things for them, not picking up orders for days, changing their minds after claiming things I kept for them that I can no longer sell, getting upset when I don’t respond quickly enough, getting rude because I didn’t see their comments, lying to me about what they ordered to get out of paying some, telling me what I have to do even having saying no, telling me I must do this because another baker did it & even getting rude with me simply because I’m booked. The list goes on.
I’ve let a lot of things slide because I’ve always tried to be understanding & kind, but lately I’ve realized how draining it can be. I’m one person. I have a family, kids, & a life outside of baking. This past year I’ve pushed myself harder than I probably should have, & I’ve missed out on time with my kids because I’m always busy baking.
I’m not stopping baking, but going into the new year I will be taking fewer orders. I want to continue doing something I love while also making more time for the people I love most. Thank you to everyone who has supported me & helped my little business grow. I’m forever grateful!!
PLEASE, just remember - be kind. We’re all human. 🤍
(also I did not tell her I was booked for the year because I simply just answered her question. I also know lots of you book way ahead & some people want a price before they decide to commit or sometime they just want prices to keep in mind for upcoming events 🤣)
