We have been working on developing our own proprietary heat treatment for 3V, which we named Gamma. We are not the first people to name a heat treatment of 3V after a Greek letter of the alphabet, but this is a very different approach to the heat treat than how 3V is typically done. 3V is a naturally very tough steel, so in this approach to the heat treat, we seek to maximize edge retention while retaining very good toughness and preserving the modest corrosion resistance that 3V is capable of. We are targeting 63 to 64 Rockwell and this will be debuting on a new model called the Keystone that will hopefully be releasing in 6 to 8 weeks.
