Here’s exactly what four days on Martha’s Vineyard looks like.

From the moment you arrive at the Harbor View Hotel to the last mimosa before you head home, every detail of this retreat has been thought through: beach walks, sunset picnics, historic Edgartown, the Aquinnah cliffs, the Gingerbread Cottages and plenty of time to slow down with a small group of women.

I lived in The Manse in Warwick, New York, with my family for more than 15 years, and it remains one of my favorite homes I’ve ever lived in.

Every room had its own personality—and I loved that about this house.

Green in the primary bedroom. Coral and navy in the guest room. Blush pink in the living room. Deep navy in the front hall.

Nothing matched on purpose, and somehow it all still felt like one home.

I’ve always believed the most interesting homes aren’t perfectly coordinated. They evolve room by room, layer by layer—through color, collections, memories and the people who live there.

More than 15 years of family life happened within these walls, and it’s still one of the houses closest to my heart.

Months of decisions, delivered in one day.

Delivery day at our Stockport project is when all those individual choices finally start having a conversation with each other. Rugs are rolled out, dining chairs find their place at the table, window treatments are installed, pillows are fluffed, and furniture begins to turn empty rooms into spaces that invite conversation.

And then there are the details that make the home truly personal, right down to a bathtub tray designed for settling in with a good book.

What looks like one day of installation is really the culmination of months and sometimes years of planning, sourcing, measuring, selecting, and refining.

That’s the value of full-service interior design. Every decision has been considered long before the delivery truck arrives, so when it does, the pieces come together with purpose.

Fall is the Vineyard’s best kept secret.

The crowds are gone, the water is still warm enough to swim, and the light this time of year is unlike anything else on the island. Walking Lambert’s Cove in October feels like having the whole place to yourself.

Here’s a peek at what four days on the island could look like:

📍 Thursday: Arrive and settle into the Harbor View Hotel, then join us at my island home for w**e and a cocktail buffet dinner.

📍 Friday: A beach walk to the Edgartown Lighthouse, wandering the historic streets and boutiques, an afternoon at our home doing needlepoint, reading, mahjong and relaxing and then head for a sunset picnic at Menemsha.

📍 Saturday: The Aquinnah cliffs, the Gingerbread Cottages in Oak Bluffs, an intimate lunch at home followed by an afternoon of mahjong, coloring, needlepoint or reading then an elegant dinner at the Charlotte Inn.

📍 Sunday: A slow morning of reflection, farewell breakfast, and mimosas before you head home.

Mr. and Mrs. 💛

The stars truly aligned for Andrew and Serena’s wedding last weekend.

These two share such a beautiful, undeniable love for one another—and that love radiated throughout the entire celebration. The night was joyful, positive, electric, wildly fun, and filled with the kind of energy that happens when two people are surrounded by the family and friends who love them most.

There really are no words to capture how it felt to be there. We danced, laughed, celebrated, and quite literally jumped for joy alongside them.

This was, without a doubt, one of the best days of my life, and I feel incredibly grateful that I got to experience it.

Congratulations to the newlyweds. We love you both so very much. 💛🥂✨

HISTORY WITH STYLE

We believe the most memorable hotels and restaurants have a strong sense of place. They honor their architecture, their history and their surroundings while creating an experience that feels fresh, distinctive and relevant for today’s guest.

At The Red Shutters, we believe great design has the power to do more than transform a room. It can transform the way you feel when you enter it.

A beautiful hotel can transport you. A restaurant can make an evening feel like an occasion. A thoughtfully designed room can invite you to linger, connect, celebrate — or simply exhale.
That is what we strive to create.

Our work at Glenmere Mansion ⚜️ spa, Stone House Restaurant Restaurant & Inn and Candy Apple Shoppe 🏳️‍🌈 reflects our approach: elevating what is already special about a property and creating spaces with character, soul and a story of their own.

We are drawn to places with history and a strong sense of identity — and to the opportunity to thoughtfully carry that story forward. Not by erasing the past, but by layering in color, pattern, art, antiques and unexpected details that make a place feel collected, individual and alive.

Now based year-round on Martha’s Vineyard, The Red Shutters is bringing this point of view to boutique hotels, inns, resorts and restaurants throughout Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Cape Cod and New England.

Because the places we remember most aren’t simply beautiful.
They make us feel something.

There’s a difference between buying things and collecting them.
One fills a room. The other tells a story.

Woven with tradition and made for summers by the sea, Nantucket baskets bring a timeless island feeling into your home—even long after you’ve left the island.

Nantucket baskets have been part of my story since I vacationed on Nantucket with my family in the 1990s. I bought my first basket at Murray’s Nantucket back then, and over the years, I’ve found others while thrifting. Each one has its own history, and together they have become part of the collection of objects and accessories that tell my story at home.

This is one of the things I love most about interior design: the most interesting homes rarely feel as though everything was purchased at once. They evolve. They layer. They reflect the people who live in them.

A home collected over time will always feel more personal and interesting than one that was bought all at once.

For me, that’s the difference between decorating a house and creating a home.

There are some places that bring you back to yourself—and for me, New York City is one of them.

I was fortunate to spend a few days in New York for an amazing celebration: the culmination of a five-year PhD journey for my son Andrew’s wife. And, as if that weren’t special enough, they were married the day before. ❤️

My father, who was from Athens, Greece, moved to New York in the 1950s and lived there for more than 50 years. Growing up, he often took me to Central Park, and whenever I return to New York, I find myself drawn back to the same paths I walked as a child.

Early mornings in Central Park—passing the Children’s Zoo, the Boat House, and those unforgettable reflections of the city’s buildings across the water—still bring me right back to those childhood memories. There is something about the way nature, architecture, and the energy of New York City come together in this extraordinary place that never gets old.

This trip, I also finally made my way to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center, something I had somehow never done before. The 360-degree views of Manhattan are truly spectacular, and I highly recommend adding it to your New York City list.

And, of course, I spent plenty of time looking for inspiration. As an interior designer, New York is one of those places where inspiration seems to be everywhere—from historic architecture and grand hotels to unexpected details on a city street.

New York always gives me something to bring home.

This is what happens when you go bold or go home.

The Warwick White House is layered top to bottom in pattern and saturated color, a coral chinoiserie stairwell, a blue and white floral in the living room. Nothing here was chosen to blend in.

It’s also why Frances Valentine chose to use this space for their catalog shoot which we were delighted by. The clothes and the walls speak the same language: bold, layered, a little unexpected, and completely confident about it.

If you’ve been wanting a home with this kind of personality, let’s talk. Comment ‘CHAT’ to schedule a discovery call.
