Moving is already a big project, and packing items you no longer use only creates more work on both ends.
Before you start filling boxes, take time to clear out the things that aren’t worth packing, moving, and finding space for in your new home.
Declutter these 10 things before you move:
1. Clothes that no longer fit
2. Broken or unwanted furniture
3. Expired pantry and refrigerator food
4. Duplicate kitchen items
5. Old paperwork and unnecessary files
6. Unused small appliances
7. Worn-out towels and linens
8. Toys your kids have outgrown
9. Random cords and outdated electronics
10. Decor that doesn’t fit your new space or style
The less you take with you, the easier it will be to pack, unpack, and settle into your new home. Decluttering before a move can also reduce moving costs and help you avoid opening boxes filled with things you already knew you didn’t want.
Start with one room at a time and ask yourself whether each item is worth the time, effort, and space required to move it.
