This vintage Replogle Ponten Reading Stand has virtually endless adjustment capabilities, and includes clips that hold your reading material in place. The multiple hinge movements allow the reading surface to flip from a flat horizontal tray to almost upside down, and you could theoretically still read even lying flat on your back. The Ponten Reading Stand has been in production since at least 1931, and advertisements called it, "The perfect gift for invalids, elderly persons, habitual readers, students"! This particular model features brass legs. Based on its decorative arched fold-out legs, I think this is a model from the 1940's. Sometime between 1935 and 1945, the legs changed from simple flat-edged triangles to this more aesthetically-pleasing curved form. The tray is in excellent used condition. The mechanics all function well with no loose hinges.
No stains or serious flaws
