I see it if you can’t. This living room was stunning before but the coffee table was off scale and the yellow chairs were not positioned correctly. The tall dramatic windows were stark and the bare wall needed some drama. I’m not a fan of ceiling fans in formal living rooms so a modern chandelier helped elevate the style of the room and fill the bare space.

I added a larger stone coffee table with decorative objects, repositioned the chairs to create a conversation area to be able to enjoy the fireplace which is a focal point. Some small decorative tables by the chairs for cocktails and a floor lamp for additional mood and task lighting was needed as well as some poofs for additional seating.

Adding all these elements ties the room together in modern sophistication. Oui Decorate!

When you need to embrace the bones of the house and can’t see its potential, I can help you see the possibilities. Embracing the mountains where this house is located, I whitewashed the stone and added molding. I replaced the light fixture with an antler chandelier, added woodland wallpaper to the ceiling, a more substantial, darker wood table, and a natural fiber area rug.

Does furniture layout have you stumped? I can help. Creating a feature wall and floating your furniture creates a comfortable conversation area. Adding a fire feature and semi-flush chandelier for interest, a large area rug to ground the space, a sofa table with additional seating and lamps for mood lighting changes the space from drab to fab.

Thanksgiving comes early when your an Irish Dancing Teacher! We are celebrating Thanksgiving today as I’ll be heading off for three regional qualifiers over the next three weekends where I’ll be a dancing teacher, a makeup artist, A Co-Chair and an involuntary psychologist. When we bought this house we renovated the entire main living area which was originally a chopped up 1930’s ranch to an contemporary open floor plan. This round dining room is my favorite. We added the wainscoating, molding, chandelier, sconces and painted the walls “Black Pepper” by . I had the tufted chairs which were white reupholstered to this lovely maroon jacquard fabric and added a contemporary leopard rug. The curio was my mothers and fits in the space perfectly and I love the built in cabinet for displaying china and crystal.
